MEDIAWATCH: You would crucify Maiki Sherman in this manner of you wanted to privatise TVNZ

I think it was very foolish of Maiki to make these comments last year in front of the Government because the naked reality is that it gave them leverage over her.

The question now is did she pull her punches knowing they had this over her, because her craven grovelling to Mark Mitchell this year because TVNZ did independent journalism opens her up to questions.

Maiki is the Political Editor on the State Broadcaster, for her to gift the Government leverage like this over her demands reflection.

However.

No one can see the involvement of a hard right hate Troll like Ani O’Brien (who was instrumental in the character assassination of Benjamin Doyle, the smear on Willie Jackson and  she was adjacent to Chippy’s Ex making allegations) and pretend this isn’t a political hit job.

Destroying Maiki’s reputation 6 months out from an election is part of this Government’s attempt to frame the Fourth Estate as the enemy AND is exactly the kind of chaos you’d want to sow if you wanted to privatise TVNZ.

It was stupid of Maiki to hand the Government this level of leverage over her, but make no mistake, the deeper game is to wound TVNZ’s Fourth Estate Journalism and set it up for privatisation.

Don’t get distracted by the dancing monkey of allegations and understand the motives of the organ grinder.
