NY mayor Zohran Mamdani says city can’t arrest Netanyahu on ICC warrant
New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Tuesday (all times local) his office does not have the authority to carry out the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and called on US federal officials to step in.
“My administration has reviewed every avenue available under applicable law to determine whether New York City could execute the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant if Benjamin Netanyahu came here,” Mamdani said in a brief video message posted to social media.
“It is clear that we do not have the independent legal authority to enforce this warrant. The federal government, however, does, and I call on them to join the ICC and execute this warrant.”

It matters that Mamdani is trying to arrest Netanyahu.

You do not get to whitewash that by retrospectively claiming these were criticisms of Netanyahu’s policies when so many were not. The United Nations headquarters is located in New York, there is a long standing convention that allows visiting heads of state and diplomats to have safe passage to the United Nations, while they are in New York. Also heads of state/diplomats have diplomatic immunity. and will have protection from the United States Secret Service.
Netanyahu can’t be arrested he has diplomatic immunity, as head of state, and he must be given safe passage to the United Nations. The only action the United States could take is to deny entry to the United States. At best all that could be done is to send him pack to Israel.
All these stupid fing people who are brainwashed into thinking calling out the Israeli administration for the scum that they are, is antisemitic, need to explain why Jewish New Yorkers voted for Mamdani.
