Why Stuart Nash’s comments won’t hurt NZF + Labour need a better response to Paul Henry than po faced humourlessness

If you listen to the NZ First Conference, the biggest cheers were for anti-vaxx and anti-Trans comments.
Look at this photo…

…some of the most toxic right wing Trolls in the game.
NZF are currently polling 11.5, I think they will come in at 10% after the specials are counted because they have peaked.
The venom of your average NZF supporter now is very unhinged and radioactive on culture war stuff.
It is driving more voters away than they are winning.
Trashy Nashy’s comments will only take some of the foam off NZF’s top because the vast rump of NZF are now radicalised and quite extremist.
It is only a matter of time before any of their other hyper aggressive candidates make another stupid comment, this guy is surely a prime candidate…

…TDB will release a list of NZF Candidates you should try and goad this election on Monday.
As for Labour’s attempt to conflate Paul Henry’s comments on Radio Hauraki radio to a death threat is a sad reminder that Labour’s po-faced humourlessness routine won’t work with Paul Henry…
Health spokeswoman Dr Ayesha Verrall was speaking on Newstalk ZB’s Wellington Mornings with Nick Mills when she said Henry’s comments were “absolutely disgusting”.
She called the interaction an “inappropriate game” and wanted to call out Henry for saying he’d shoot Hipkins.
“We can’t just let death threats go in our political conversation. There are nutters out there who feed off these sort of things, and one day we can be in the situation which the UK is in where Members of Parliament lose their lives. We have to have standards in how we talk about this.”
National MP Tim Costley, appearing alongside Verrall, said it was up to Act leader David Seymour to decide whether Henry’s comments amounted to a sackable offence.
“I would never expect to see that. I can imagine if that was a National Party MP, the Prime Minister would have some words,” Costley said.
Verrall interjected to say: “Tim, it’s a death threat. Just condemn it.”
…Fragile snowflake brittleness with a side order of Offended Karen is so 2016.
Clearly Henry wasn’t making a serious death threat to the Leader of the Labour Party when he elected Chippy to shoot in a marry, shag or shoot game involving Chippy, Luxon and Winston.
What Chippy should have said is, “Thank God I got shot and didn’t have to marry or shag Paul Henry”.
THAT would have been funny, clever and shown Labour can roll with the punches and turn the joke back on Paul Henry.
What did Labour do? Whine, complain and play outrage Olympics which just looks weak.
The question was asked by Jeremy Bloody Wells for Christ’s sake!
The sunken cheeked private boy rich kid who is the co-host of the dumbest current affairs show in NZ.
Is Labour seriously suggesting Jeremy Wells is part of a death threat to the Labour leader?
Get off the grass.
The Nashy’s kicking of working Mums won’t hurt NZF vote because they are so extremist many support Trad Wifes and Labour need a better response to Paul Henry than po faced humourlessness.
Independent Media is more important than ever, especially in the lead up to the Election. TDB is the largest Left Wing Blog in NZ and we have been operating for 13 years now. We get zero funding g from NZ on Air and we don’t have no rich backers. If you can donate please do so here or directly into our account – 12-3065-0133561-56

” What Chippy should have said is, “Thank God I got shot and didn’t have to marry or shag Paul Henry ”
What any real principled New Zealand Labour leader should have said was….
I and my colleagues am hypocrites and will resign.
It’s impossible to hurt people who have no deep feelings or empathy so while our poorer, under-paid workers, live on the street, the likes of Seymour and Henry do a ‘goon show’ rendition, Luxon blinks rapidly trying desperately to keep up with the rhetoric, and Nash’s mouth runs away with him – again! In the meantime the wealthy plan their next overseas holiday, their new Spring collection and show us how easy it is to spend, spend spend, without a care in the world, whereas I cringe, not because I am LW, but because I have a heart, soul and conscience and truly care about our homeless people. Luxon – the once-a-salesman, always-a-salesman hasn’t a clue about his product and still believes our country is another, but bigger company! And in the background there is slimy Simeon, racing to destroy our health system in a bid to privatise it – again he hasn’t a clue – he was a banker FGS! Hipkins, bring some humour into this horrid mix to make these fools the laughing stock of NZ. Tighten the screws; hit the Right where it hurts, their wallets/purses, and go for the jugular. It’s more than a game that needs to be brought quickly to a head so stop dilly-dallying around and get on with claiming our country back for the kind and caring voters, not the bank accounts of the already wealthy and so very smug and greedy! I would say the “marry, shag or shoot” game shows the basic low mentality of many out there!
Chris Hipkins’ reaction had me sighing in frustration.
Good God!
How can you possibly take this kind of nonsense as a genuine “death threat”?
The Hauraki programme is silly, infantile and something genuine politicians (that excludes glory seeker washed up ex-broadcasters obviously) should probably not go near.
But to take it seriously???
I despair.
Marry, shag or shoot ?….it is a dumb very basic dumb Kiwi game if ever there was one …… Okay possibly if it’s a bunch of friends sitting around a bonfire after having one too many Pina coladas… as Paul Henry clearly has had looking at the trainwreck of an interview he gave with Jack Tame on Q&A…a few brain cells now missing for sure…gone walkabout….never to return.
Is that the best that they can come up with?….it’s right up there along the lines of when Key was on the radio talking about pissing in the shower.
The thing is …Dr. Ayesha Verrall is a serious person with some serious credentials…a true professional…the exact type of person you want helping to run the country.
Henry on the other hand is the village idiot with no credentials of worth ….the silly games…i.e asking…who would you shag?…do you piss in the shower? etc is a tactic to try and normalise the village idiot and neutralise the mature serious cred person.
A good test of the situation would be to ask…How would Helen Clark have responded? Rest assured ….It would have been a steely glare followed by a stern “move on”.
Did Verrall know Hipkins was on a similar show and said he would kick Seymour and kiss Luxon both of which are assaults . Very hypocritical of her
Yes – just dismiss Paul Henry as a boring old has-been and move on.
Maybe Nash can join the ACT circus.
Yes ..they are interchangeable!…..the freaks are all gathering at the bottom of the cliff ….. now the natural home for the Coalition of the Hopeless …having been spectacularly delivered there in record time by…. “I’m great with numbers” Luxon (clearly not)…. Nikki-no idea -no boats- Willis, Mr. Bean couldn’t organise a piss-up in a brewery Seymour, and, Prickly Petulant Peters.
What a line-up !!
Gotta love it. Chuppa chumps chickmunk Verall played straight into Henry’s hands. She all pissed off because in that same game nobody would want to sh…..shoot her.
You are so right Martyn, we need to take Henry out with his weapons and working on his uber inflated ego. Maybe a contest of biting burns?
Here’s mine.
I used to listen to Paul Henry all the time, he was so onto it and then Hillary Barry left his show.
