  1. ” Someone is going to alert Labour to the fact that there is an election this year right? ”

Bomber the general election is a full gone conclusion. The neoliberal establishment will be reelected regardless of who you vote for that is representing you in the current parliament and on the ballot with the exception of TMP who I genuinely believe will not back away from the fight that is needed.

The entire system is corrupt and compromised but unfortunately no one can see it.

  2. ” Have the incremental Wellington Mandarins convinced Labour to not only have no policy, but to not fight as well ”

No. The current caucus and leadership share that approach.

The NZLP should amalgamate with their twin the Nasty Natz. No one would notice the difference.

As far as corruption goes the neoliberal establishment that the NZLP are members of will never question it as long as the ” market ” is maintained.

Labour is simply a fraud masquerading as a workers party so that our Westminster parliamentary democracy has a ineffective opposition that really can’t bring itself to oppose the current government because they support the neoliberal framework and what imposes on many of the people they pretend to represent as ” fictional Labour ”

Here is the reality Bomber in case you deep down already know.

” What is perhaps even more alarming is the near-total inability — or unwillingness — of the Labour opposition to call austerity for what it is. In the Budget debate, Labour MPs danced around the term as if it were radioactive. They criticised the Government’s “choices,” its “priorities,” its “cuts,” but they refused to name the ideology driving those cuts. That silence is not accidental. Austerity is woven into the fabric of the neoliberal orthodoxy that Labour itself embraced decades ago and has never meaningfully abandoned. To condemn austerity outright would require Labour to confront its own record, its own complicity, its own refusal to challenge the economic model that has produced crisis after crisis ”

This week, Labour leader Chris Hipkins made that reality even clearer. Hipkins openly floated the idea of forging a bipartisan arrangement with National after the election. His words were revealing: ‘So what I’m offering now … is a very competitive election campaign but then an ability to say, ‘Okay, the election result has been delivered, the voters have had their say, for the next few years let’s work together to figure out how to actually move forward ”

Chris Hipkins is testing the patience (and allegiance) of every centre- left voter. We may be now only a few months out from the election, yet Labour is continuing to refuse to say where it stands on a wide range of important issues. It is now claiming a need to see this week’s Budget numbers before putting forward its own agenda. That’s absurd.

For the past two and half years, Labour has been claiming it cannot take any positions on the key issues facing New Zealanders. Now it has plucked out of the air an alleged need to first see what the coalition government is proposing in its last Budget before the election. This is putting the cart before the horse. Is Labour so afraid of its own policies – and so fearful of its inability to defend them – that it has to keep its agenda under wraps until the very last minute?

Any Opposition worth its salt has two main jobs (a) to oppose on reasoned principle what the incumbent government is doing, and (b) to propose alternatives, and make a case to the public that it is a competent government-in -waiting. Instead, Labour has repeatedly refused to propose anything of substance. The public may have been suffering through a chronic cost of living crisis and now, a fuel crisis – but Labour long ago shut up shop.

  3. But what Labour? And who’s sniffing who?
‘Labour’ dumped neoliberal roger douglas on us from its finance ministry.
And you do know who roger douglas is, right? ACT? Heard of? Yep. That one. In fact, rogers pong’s all over our politic. Neoliberalism’s a gateway drug for money addicts so while $billions and $millions are disappeared we get to keep the withdrawal symptoms.
roger should be in jail then we should mandate the vote then we should return to first past the, as-pathetic-as-it-was, post. And then, we should demand a public, royal commission of inquiry up and into every single kiwi billionaire and millionaire and their lobby-lair besties spanning quite a long time.
The current labour, which isn’t that, has no round things that roll. Look at hipkins? You’re never going to get a meaty brawl out of that pink cheeked Earl Grey sipper. I’ve seen concrete patios with more balls.

  4. Labour will be drafting a strongly worded letter to the Head of Ministerial Services about their disquiet…

  5. Labour are too busy deciding whether recycling the “no gst on fruit and veges” will win them the election.

    1. They have to find a way to get sausage rolls classed as fruit and veggies first or ammend their old legislation to include sausage rolls. While the country needs a decent opposition party it’s a long time since Labour has done that job properly.

  6. Labour, stop playing their dumb game. Yes. Call It What It Is – Blatant Middle Finger Corruption!!! From Lying Luxon, our wonderful “Christian” PM! It’s got to be up there with the most audacious denials. What is most disturbing is the absolute lack of honesty from the myriad of, supposedly intelligent enablers, clearly without moral courage, ethics or principles. But that’s okay, they have ‘money’! Hipkins just get on and tell us how the Left can turn this staggering economy around!

    1. It is… plain and simple…corruption .. and….the media should be hounding Luxon out of office…the tepid questions…the lack of drilling down…

The lack of real forensic questioning is allowing Luxon, (who apparently wasn’t aware of anything…. despite having nothing to do all day except pat people on the head), off the hook with his meandering bullshit answers.

Is it any wonder that N.Z. has turned into an absolute basket case in the past 2 and a half years?
