Shane Jones Weakens Oil Polluter Clean-up Liability
Oil polluters’ clean-up liability should be the easiest political question in the world: if oil companies make the profits and leave the mess, they should pay to clean it up. Shane Jones is now weakening the very safeguards created after taxpayers were burned by the Tui oil field disaster.
Look.
I get it.
Trans people are bad.
Vaccines are bad.
Māori are bad.
Treaty is bad.
Climate change is a socialist hoax.
Blah blah blah.
But here’s what I don’t get about you NZ First, National and ACT voters.
Why are you so happy being simps for corporations???
Like, sure – hate trans, hate Maori, hate vaccines, hate the Treaty etc etc etc.
But simps for corporations?
Govt rolls back clean-up liabilities for offshore drillers
Five years after the taxpayers got left with a $300 million clean-up bill for an oil field, Shane Jones is weakening the rules put in place to prevent a repeat. Officials spoke only with the oil and gas industry about changes that will increase the risk of the Crown having to pay to clean up more defunct wells.

…I just don’t understand you fucking people.
You hate like Lions yet you capitulate like lambs.
Oil polluters should pay for their own mess
Let me spell it out for the redneck culture-war crowd.
WHY.
THE.
FUCK.
SHOULD.
OIL.
COMPANIES.
BE.
ABLE.
TO.
CAUSE.
MASSIVE.
ENVIRONMENTAL.
DAMAGE.
AND.
NOT.
PAY.
FOR.
IT???
WHY????
If an oil company that has made enormous profits from pumping our oil causes environmental damage – THEY SHOULD FUCKING PAY TO CLEAN IT UP!
Yet the changes Shane Jones has made allows them to escape paying it!
We had this exact situation occur five years ago to the tune of $300 million!!!
WHY WOULD YOU ALLOW THEM TO DO THIS AGAIN?
Why do you allow the right to manipulate your bigotry with such ease?
Why?
Is your hate of those others so important to you that you will gleefully allow big corporations to rort us time and time and time again?
How conned are you people? Honestly?

It’s easier to avoid tax than to avoid responsibility so those with a financial interest in oil companies get the law changed to protect their profits safe in the knowledge that they are not going to be the taxpayers paying extra for the cleanup cost.
