History repeats in Iran

As a marxist atheist, the concept of a Theocracy to me is a medieval anathema.
The Iranian Theocracy beats little girls to death for not wearing headscarves FFS and the brutal killings, detentions and torture of protestors mark them as a repressive and ruthless regime.
So I am no fan of the Iranian Theocracy.
However.
I’m also not blind to why they exist in the first place!
American foreign policy!
It was the Americans who committed a coup against Iran’s first democratically elected Government, so let’s not play the freedom and democracy card to try and justify this current illegal war against Iran by America and Israel.
The past gives us glimpses of the damage western foreign policy has caused…
A documentary about Peter Sichel – the ‘Jewish James Bond’ who died in 2025 – includes striking mea culpas about the cost and efficacy of US involvement in the Middle East
…If the bloody Americans stop trying to play God in other peoples country, we wouldn’t have had much of the nightmare of violence the 20th Century became!
We should be calling America and Israel out for their genocide, their violence and their cruelty.
This is what we get from NZ instead…

…an AI picture of Simon Court that is as unbelievable as the fact that the large smug golden Lion behind him isn’t smashed with the blood of Palestinian children.
We refuse to learn the lessons of the past, not because we are ignorant of them, but because we are the ones perpetrating the war crimes.
We need to be honest about Iran – and how our rampant greed for oil is causing mayhem
Oil has empowered capitalism, and some of the world’s most exploitative regimes. Move away from it and we can solve some of the key issues we face
