NZ First held their conference over the weekend and it was a cross between a Monsters Ball, a cavalcade of political circus freaks and a remake of Weekend at Bernies.

So many dead and washed up political corpses of Christmas past turned up it felt more like a cemetary than a meeting of the living.

With 300 empty seats and a showgirls cabaret act, it felt like the wake of an Elvis impersonator that no one liked.

Shane Jones talked in the 3rd person about how great Shane Jones is; Winston growled about old man stuff and people you wouldn’t trust with your milk money explained why every political ghoul ever cast into purgatory were all signing up to be NZ First candidates.

It was less a political rally and more the opening sequences to the Handmaids Tale prequel.

The big announcement was a billion dollar corporate welfare payment to the gas and oil industry to find more gas and oil in ten years time, which is about when the Arctic ocean is predicted to be ice free.

Why give NZFirst’s big polluter donors more money to create more pollution?

This isn’t social policy, it’s environmental masochism masquerading as Economic Nationalism.

How much must ya’ll hate da Trans, da Māoris, da Treaty, da vaccines and Jacinda to think this is a solution?

It’s like your house is burning and NZFirst are offering to dig up your backyard to find more things to throw on the fire.

After this redneck jamboree,  the Feral Right over at The Platform are demanding Māori electorates are scrapped and 700 000 permanent residents lose their right to vote. The problem with arousing people as unhinged as this is that they want the mutilation and conflict.

Don’t think for one second that if NZF are back, they will want military conscription, the amputation of the Māori Electorates, mining everywhere, they will deny 700 000 Kiwis of their right to vote and we will get a Fisheries Bill written for corporate fishing industry.
