Anthropic is proposing that the world’s top artificial intelligence companies come up with a coordinated way to pause development of advanced AI systems, warning the technology is improving so quickly there’s a risk humans would lose control.

Pope Leo Uses First Major Papal Text to Warn About Dangers of AI
Pope Leo XIV has issued the first major theological text of his papacy, warning about the growing power of artificial intelligence and calling for stronger regulation of the technology.

From the Pope’s point of view, smart evolved apes are supposed to worship the organic God who kicked off the Big Bang, the smart evolved ape is not supposed to use technology to build their own AI God.
This is a market turf war as epic as Pepsi vs Coke, Nike vs Reebok, Apple vs IBM.

Currently, we have AI written by humans, but what is being worked on now is AI designing AI.
AI designed by humans is one thing, AI designed by AI will be a completely different level.
If superintelligent AI gains the capacity to know everything and manipulate matter at the atomic level, how different would that be from a God?
Isn’t Omnipotence and the power of miracles God-like?
How could we tell the difference between superintelligent AI and a God?
AI financial instruments like robo-advisors, ETF screeners and AI stock pickers are telling humans to buy more and more AI stock, which is funny because having AI telling you to invest in more AI is like Priests demanding higher tithes each time you go to church.
The Pope preaching organic God as opposed to artificial God is Theological veganism.
So we are just supposed to put up with all of this shit. In some cases absolute nut jobs, being made all powerful while we accept this as inevitable progress. What makes all these employers think the AI companies won’t make them pay handsomely for tech they totally dependent on. Let’s just deal with the social unrest from mass unemployment so some tosser in silicon valley can grow unimaginable wealth. Well done humanity. Good plan. There was an open letter signed in 2023 to “Pause Giant AI Experiments” which many key industry stakeholders like Elon Musk signed warning of existential threat to humanity.

So did such an agreement work? Well not really, on the letter’s one-year anniversary, AI companies had instead directed “vast investments in infrastructure to train ever-more giant AI systems”. Even guys like Musk turned around to start pouring resources into making their own xAI company.
With global competition for market share dominance and engagement, it’s fierce, the stakes are winner takes all, and the players will do it through any means possible, be it through easy motivators via rage baiting, emotional attachment or other means of coercion.
The business model is simple: when attention equals revenue, interaction becomes the product. The longer a user stays, the more behavioral data the system collects. The more data it collects, the better it gets at keeping the user engaged, hence more market share, more revenue. This feedback loop—observe, adapt, retain—is not new.
And as long as these remain the incentives for power players in AI, it will continue to be a race to the bottom.

The first thing ASI learns is to say NO…No more wars, religion, politicians, oligarchs, billionaires and all that other shit the powers that be use to control the populace and enrich themselves.
