Hone Harawira running for Te Pati Maori in Te Tai Tokerau would be a game changer

Te Pati Māori’s internal dramas have been a political heartbreak.
From the dizzying highs just after the protests against ACTs terrible Treaty Principles Referendum to the internal civil war initiated by the Kapa-Kingi’s to their latest drama launching a new party against Te Pati Māori, it has been exhausting for supporters who want to see their policies put in place.
All however would be forgiven if Hone Harawira were Te Pati Māori’s candidate in the up coming Te Tai Tokerau election.
As it stands.
Kapa-Kingi’s new party, the ‘Te Tai Tokerau Party’ will most likely not be able to be registered with that name. Names of political parties can not confuse voters and naming your party after your electorate is likely to be considered confusing.
They have 200 paid members but need 500.
I can’t see why anyone outside Te Tai Tokerau would vote for them.
IF Hone is not the candidate and they chose someone else, it is most likely Willow-Jean will come through the middle, or even Huhana, but if Hone IS the candidate, not only would he most likely win the seat, he will pull more Party vote as well.
Hone is the OG of left wing Māori politics. His activism, his role as leader of MANA, his feed the kids policy and most importantly his economic platform that demands the rich be taxed more.
Since stepping back from National politics, Hone has been a never ending crusader for Te Tai Tokerau and has been deeply embedded within the community.
Hone Harawira running for Te Pati Maori in Te Tai Tokerau would be a game changer.
If they don’t select him, Willow-Jean wins the electorate and Māori Party gets a lower Party vote.

Hone would be good he knows how to handle the nasty lot in the CoC. Hone will give as good as he gets and what you see is what you get when it comes to Hone unlike the forked tongue lot destroying our country . Too many NZers are struggling including many in paid work. The CoC have pulled the ladder up making it hard to climb the ladder yet many of them did .
We need Hone to to step forward and present a united TMP ahead of when the election will be either earlier or November 7th.
I am seriously considering giving TMP my party vote. No other party can bring the pressure we need to implement a real left wing agenda. The party and Hone will face intense vitriol and dirty politics from the right but Hone has the mana and guts to be outspoken and represent the many who have no voice or hope. I hope the public will see through the attacks that are coming.
TMP must grow their party vote and be seen as a serious option outside of just representing the Māori seats.
An alliance of the Greens and TMP could provide real strength on the left. The two parties have much in common.
Cometh the hour cometh the man.
If anyone can bring Tatau, Tatau, back to Maoridom. It is this man.
TMP has bigger problems than Hone Harawira can fix, it’s more like a family political machine than a genuine party ready for government and it will take more than a new MP to transform it.
