The interruption to supplies of fertiliser and its key ingredients due to the war in Iran could cost up to 10 billion meals a week globally and will hit poorest countries hardest, according to the boss of one of the world’s biggest fertiliser producers.
…Consider the possibility that we are for the first time in 150 years going to face a Super El Niño. The last time that happened the drought it drove led to famine that saw 3% of the planet’s population die.
If that was to happen this time alongside the loss of 10 billion meals each week, this monstrosity could kill tens of millions from famine.
The idea that something as horrific as that could happen, demands the Strait is opened now.

We haven’t agreed with Israel exporting their genocide from Gaza to Lebanon.

While it is absolutely true that the Strait must be opened, it is also true that there is no military option short of nuking the entire Iranian Coastline, and seeing as that can’t be an option, Trump and Israel must surrender to Iran.
- They must give Iran compensation for the damage their bombing campaign has caused.
- They must lift all economic sanctions on Iran.
- They must lift their blockade on Iran.
- They must agree to cease all military acts.
- They must leave Iran’s proxies alone and immediately withdraw from Lebanon and allow aid into Gaza.
THEN and ONLY THEN, the Strait reopens.
What global efforts should be aimed at right now is not attempting to force our way into the Strait, we should be forcing America and Israel to agree to Iran’s demands!

We all agree that the Hormuz Strait MUST reopen now for all the sensible reasons including imminent world poverty, but while the insane, blithering idiot, Trump, has no control over his mouth this won’t happen. Netanyahu is pulling the strings; Trump is dancing to the tune. Time these two barbaric lunatics started to actually THINK in more than one sentence, for the good of our world not their twisted egos! Trump and Netanyahu must back down, go away and lick their self-inflicted wounds and return a semblance of maturity and common sense to our shattered world.
We will continue to grow crops to feed animals so the wealthy can enjoy their animal products and create demand for the health system as they age instead of growing crops to feed directly to humans that would require much less land to supply and enable us to survive any food supply crisis.
You can be sure that any famine is going to hit the poor and developing countries hardest as those who have caused this problem will continue their extravagant lifestyle.
As it stands today NZ can send ships to pick up oil and fertiliser as long as we pay at Iran’s toll booth. Its the USA preventing this with its illegal blockade and profiting from the high oil and gas prices charged on their exports.
If the USA is preventing us from getting mid East oil NZ should stop sanctioning Russia and buy Russian oil.
