1. Wondering if the multiple church arsons in Masterton last night were triggered by this distorted depiction of offending church men. At least one of them came from Masterton.

   A compressed listing of 22 offenders spanning a period of 32 years, makes the situation look worse than it is.

   What’s more, back in 1990, when this list starts, drag queens were not prevalent in public society the way they are now. There’s also a big difference between between talented performers like the Brits Danny La Rue, and the parodies of women as they often are now.

3. There is a yawning gap in our society between attitudes to human sexual drives – one the managed, mannered legalisation, represented by those who are ultimately ‘sexist’. It being seem as base, earthy and primitive, needing barriers around sex (which create heightened interest exploited by media). Then there is the use of reasonable humane guidelines for behaviour that are good for individuals, respectful of this life force within us. We need to be knowledgeable and discriminating about it; gradually from childhood and fully when we reach puberty – about its effect on individuals including the inextricable emotions, usually considered expressions of affection, and the drive itself for action and experience, stronger than that seemingly forcing people to run multiple marathons. Do we understand this mania? Some would posit as displacement theory?

4. False equivalence when you omit to reference the sexually abusive New Zealanders who do not purport to be (a) Christians (b) leaders, and by implication (c) females.
