  1. Murder is a legal term.
Murder is a specific legal term for the unlawful killing of a human with intent or, premeditation. Murder is legally distinct from broader, legal terms like homicide—which includes lawful killings such as self-defense—and lesser charges like manslaughter.
To prove murder intent and/or premeditation, must be proved.
To prove genocide, intent and/or premeditation must also be proved.
In the case of South Africa vs. Israel, South Africa has presented 30 pages of statements of intent to commit genocide made by Israeli political and military leaders.
New Zealand signed the genocide convention in New York in 1948 and ratified the genocide convention into New Zealand law in 1978.
Just as New Zealand authorities must prosecute cases of murder, and/or take all actions to prevent cases of murder.
By international convention and New Zealand law New Zealand authorities must prosecute and/or take all possible action to prevent cases of genocide.
The only way that New Zealand authorities can escape their legal responsibility to prosecute genocide is by denying that it is happening.

Genocide is Not a Dirty Word. It’s a Legal Term.
What exactly do you mean by genocide?

  2. New Zealand is bound by International Convention and New Zealand law to “Prevent and punish the crime of genocide”.

No New Zealand mainstream political party that could lead the next governing coalition will admit that it is genocide. Even if currently they are in opposition.
Because to admit it, would commit them to do something about it. And no leading political party that has a chance of being the ruling party after the election wants to suffer the wrath of the US.

The genocide convention that New Zealand signed in New York in 1948 and ratified into New Zealand law in 1978 mandates that New Zealand must act to prevent genocide.

But nothing happens. NZ troops still train with the IDF, Israel still has an embassy in Wellington, IDF soldiers still holiday here, Israeli goods still enter the country, even Israeli goods made in the illegally occupied territories can be found in our supermarkets.

Genocide is not being prevented, it is being normalised.

National, Labour, ACT NZF, and TOP deny that genocide is being committed in Gaza.

The Green Party and Te Pati Maori are the only two parties who say that genocide is being committed by Israel and that we must uphold New Zealand and international law and do something to prevent it, and if we can’t prevent it, punish the perpetrators..

Our National, Labour, ACT and NZF politicians are so cowardly that they are prepared to break our own laws, if it offends the US.

  3. Of course it’s Genocide! Surely we can all see that Netanyahu is not only mentally unstable, he is a cruel, twisted despot. Trump, sucking up to him, but pretending it is the opposite way around, is equally as sick. Neither of them is fit to run a country and need to be “sectioned” and put away for the remainder of their lives. How anyone can call themselves a human being, and behave in such a brutal and savage manner, is more than staggering. So when both of them meet their maker, it won’t be going ‘up’ there it will be going ‘down’ there! Enjoy the journey.

  4. So all these New York congressional candidates that Mamdani backed won easily. They were openly anti AIPAC and would have had Jewish New Yorkers voting them in. It is just wonderful to have it proven that those vile Israelis don’t remotely represent the Jewish as a whole at all. I can’t wait to have all those Republican and Democratic arseholes that scream antisemitism for cash get demolished.

“So all these New York congressional candidates that Mamdani backed won easily. They were openly anti AIPAC and would have had Jewish New Yorkers voting them……”

The genocide in Gaza is the moral political litmus test of our time, genocide denying politicians are losing elections, and not just in the US.
In the UK, in the local council elections, and in the Gorton Denton by-election, UK Labour Friends of Israel candidates are getting thrashed.
In the US, in the Democratic party primary elections we saw the same thing. In every primary debate the issue of the genocide in Gaza could not be ignored, and when the issue was raised, as it was in every debate, AIPAC backed Democratic party candidates that supported continuing sending US weapons to Israel to help facilate the genocide, lost their nomination.
In this country, no matter how much our mainstream politicians will try to dodge debating the genocide in Gaza, they can dodge and weave all they like, PSNA and other peace groups will be raising the genocide in Gaza as an election issue.
Evasion and/or equivocation over the genocide in Gaza during this election will not be possible.

In the US and the UK genocide denial is a proven election losing strategy.
Already liberals are telling us, “It will damage Labour’s chances to raise the issue of genocide in Gaza during this election”..
They are right. if the Labour party are called on the genocide in Gaza, and they fail this moral litmus test, they will lose the vast majority of progressive voters.
The Labour Party need to distinguish themselves from the government on this issue, before it is too late, or risk losing the election.
      It is that simple.
