Cost of living still rising under Luxon – Labour

New Stats NZ data shows the cost of living continues to climb under National, with food prices up across the board for another year.
“National promised to bring the cost of living down. Instead, it’s getting worse. Every food group is more expensive than it was a year ago, and Kiwi families are paying the price every time they shop,” Labour finance and economy spokesperson Barbara Edmonds said.

“White bread is up 28 percent over the last year. Potatoes have jumped nearly 23 percent. Even milk, a staple in almost every Kiwi home, has gone up every month for the last two years.
“Making a family’s staple like mashed potatoes is getting harder and harder for families to afford, and Christopher Luxon and Nicola Willis are too out of touch to do anything about it.
“They had the chance to help in their last Budget, but instead they handed tax breaks to tobacco companies and property speculators while supermarket bills kept climbing.
“New Zealanders can’t afford another three years of rising prices and broken promises.
“Labour has a plan to make life more affordable, with three free doctor’s visits, free prescriptions, a $20 public transport fare cap, and lower power bills through SolarSaver. It’s a plan that puts money back in people’s pockets,” Barbara Edmonds said.

This coming election will see Luxon et al still promising a myriad of things they have so far failed to deliver! They will continue to lie, reel you in with wonderful policy promises and deliver nothing of conseqence. They are evil, self-absorbed and there solely for their egos, definitely not for NZ or its people, unless of course you are super wealthy and can donate to them! It’s all about MONEY, POWER, GREED and it won’t change even with a different PM. They simply are not there for NZ or for your average Joe Bloggs. Prices for everything are continuing to rise daily – we even have to compete with exports – no wonder our local farming products are so expensive. And don’t talk about the cost of bread! And this CoC has the gall to criticise the initiatives that Labour and Greens intend to bring in to help those in ‘serious need’! Again, how do some of you sleep at night?
