Winston Peters accosted by protesters at Parliament over Israel’s war in Gaza

Foreign Minister Winston Peters’ appearance before Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Select Committee was disrupted by protest this afternoon.

Peters was appearing during scrutiny week, when MPs on the committee scrutinise the executive with a particular focus on the Budget.

When Labour’s Damien O’Connor asked Peters about the Government’s response to Israel’s war in Gaza, a member of the public who had been watching the meeting got to his feet and began accosting Peters.

Several protesters made remarks during the demonstration.

β€œAre we going to sanction Israel or are we going to investigate Israel for the people that were on the flotilla that were brutally beaten and tortured?” said the first protester, referring to the protest group Global Sumud Flotilla that recently attempted to sail to Gaza.

Peters, after listening to the protester, turned around in his chair and replied: β€œJust answer this question, when those people got off the boat and they were treated by their own people, none of them were judged to be brutalised – how come they were brutalised when they came in front of you?”

So much to unpack here.

Firstly, If Matua Winston doesn’t want to be called a war criminal, maybe he should speak out against war criminals rather than costing up to them.

Secondly, Matua Winston himself released emails showing the PM wanted to support America and Israels illegal war in Iran!

Thirdly, and most importantly, Winston’s claims that the Global Sumud Flotilla protestors were NOT abused by Israel is a completely fucking lie and he knows that!

Come on, we get you don’t like being accurately portrayed as a war criminal, but pretending Global Sumud flotilla protestors beat themselves up is a tad much even for Matua Winston.

    Peter’s legacy will forever be stained by the blood of many in Gaza.

    This current government is an affront to what was the decency of Kiwis and our proud past in standing against Fascism and States that inflict butchery against a race of people in what’s left of their homeland.

    Our governments silence and inaction has destroyed the last vestiges of our once proud independent foreign policy that spoke for many of us in Aotearoa.

Winston supports the orange terrorist big time and is happy to kiss his arse as often as he can .Luxon is too thick to realize what he is doing .The Atlas network will be shitting them selves about the up coming election .I expect a huge wave of false claims about the opposition parties to flood the media as nats spend their 11 million on spreading lies .Winston needs to learn the lesson that Trump has just learned ,that money will not always buy what you want .
