Corrections corruption exposure is probably thanks to new FBI base

The Operation Jasper prison corruption arrests should terrify New Zealand, not because corruption has suddenly arrived, but because it shows how vulnerable our prison system is to organised crime, 501 syndicates, meth money and cartel-level criminal sophistication.
Twenty people arrested after investigation into alleged corruption within several prisons
Twenty people have been arrested following a major investigation that has spanned nearly a year into alleged corruption within several prisons.
Detective Inspector Colin Parmenter, of the National Organised Crime Group, said on Thursday police began investigating criminal activity at the Mt Eden Corrections Facility (MECF) in July 2025.
This week, 20 people were arrested in relation to the investigation, dubbed Operation Jasper.
“Those arrested include Corrections officers, reintegration officers and members of the public associated to prisoners.
“Police have identified serious criminal offending, so serious that the corruption and bribery charges required the attorney-general’s consent to prosecute.”

We should not be surprised that corruption is in our prisons.
It’s in our Border Security and it will be inside the Police right now as well.
Why 501 syndicates changed New Zealand organised crime
The 501 syndicates brought a level of violence and criminal sophistication that the Mongrel Mob, Black Power and even the Head Hunters were never capable of.
The 501s are so much more criminally sophisticated than domestic gangs because they work with South American cartels who are at a counter-intelligence-level criminal sophistication.
Part of their modus operandi is bribery and that is what we are seeing with Corrections.
The syndicates are bribing corrections guards (just as organised crime will attempt to bribe anyone standing between them and profit: border staff, cops, prosecutors, prison officers, the lot), to gain leverage.
The danger is that NZ becomes such a meth earner that the cartels want more control, and NZ simply isn’t prepared for that level of sophisticated corruption.
The FBI, cartels and the next phase of prison corruption
One possibility is that the newly opened FBI office in Wellington is giving Police access to deeper intelligence on transnational criminal networks, including cartel-linked laundering, encrypted communications and the movement of meth money.
The FBI office is providing a level of insight of the cartels while spying on shadow Chinese banking infrastructure that is facilitating the laundering of drug cash.
Expect this to get much worse.

The corruption is probably because the FBI and other US agencies were organizing it.
Organised crime is getting increasingly sophisticated and finding new markets here so it’s good global cooperation is happening. But do we really need an FBI base here? Maybe to shill Kash Patel’s clothing merch? Like do we roll out the red carpet for CCP police stations here as well? It’s good we’re stopping crime cartels getting a foothold here but it may pay to be wary about letting the Orange Overlord’s crime cartel enforcement goons get a foothold here as well.
I think it might be a little early to be thanking the fucking FBI for this result, after all, our Police have been known from time to time to actually do investigative police work.
agree ,the police have finally decided to get their shit together because the minister may not be there to cover their sorry arses after the election .I fail to see how the FBI would have anything to do with this ,they are more interested in making sure the COC get elected again so they can take over NZ .

Tip of the ice burg .Watch this space, every prison in NZ has corrupt staff bringing in contraband .If there were not corrupt staff and mangers there would not be the massive on going drug problems or cell phones .Every prisoner would be leaving drug free on release and in a better position to lead a decent life .
