Winston Peters’ latest state of the nation speech was less a roadmap for New Zealand than a grievance sermon built on race baiting, conspiracy, culture war resentment and a deeply dangerous push to put Māori political rights up for majority approval.
Winston is older than the State of Israel, he’s been the kingmaker for four elections and he is lining himself up for the 5th.

His feral race baiting, his conspiracy theory garbage and woke counter culture toxicity will damage a broken NZ, not repair, build or heal it.
Winston is the very epitome of resentment culture and has been playing to grievance since he stopped being politically relevant.
His state of the nation grievance address hit all the classic hits: the ant-vax conspiracy against the WHO, the baseless criticism over Covid, his boomer culture war on wokeness, his insults to the Greens, Te Pāti Māori and Labour, it was all there like some sad pantomime for the gauche and callow.

He had to make Alfred Ngaro a candidate after Stuart Nash cooked his goose on The Platform, people had no idea who he was and called out to demand he identify himself which was the funniest moment in the speech.

NZ First’s desire to push a referendum on the Māori Electorates is unhinged, racist and dangerous.
I am proud that NZ has Māori Electorates, it is a unique feature that makes us a democracy rather than the blunt force trauma of Majoritarianism.
No majority should define the political rights of the existing minority, especially when that minority are actively engaging and participating in those political rights!
NZFirst is still the same stale tobacco stain of petty bigotry and garden variety ignorance it’s been cursed to become since Tracey Martin left the Party.

The Māori electorates are not a grievance to be exploited by cynical politicians chasing Facebook outrage and culture war clicks. They are part of the democratic architecture of Aotearoa. Turning them into referendum bait is not leadership — it is cowardice dressed up as populism.
