Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

  1. Long set of thoughts and questions and links. Don’t know where or whether this would go to provide value in info.

? What is drying up the country’s flow of money, jobs, and general wellbeing requirements?
? Why don’t, or can’t gummints get off their a…ses and do something for the people in line with the money they are paid and have access to?
? What would happen if we got onto doing the necessary – houses, assisting small business, developing green and recycling in small local ways etc.
? What – If we had more education about running a modern country and how it was done through the ages – better education for all and only those who had passed the basics of economics and social anthropology allowed to vote ?
? We have been decimated by free trade agreements as a people though some businesses and housing has mightily profited. Can we have a referendum on whether we want to continue in this decline? If we decided to withdraw, how would we fare? Would we be punished by other traders, countries, without any concerns about the generally downward direction for ordinary people? And how would we placate those who don’t care a stuff except for their own advantage.

What if next government, soon I hope, adopts new regime – says ‘What will help ordinary people most’? Give people a balance of carrots and sticks, rewards and restraints.

Or brings in Chinese advisor on how we can go forward with limited exporting and importing to be in balance. How we can avoid being dragged before Big Business Kangaroo Court that our government has signed up to on behalf of us all, but benefits the bigger players in trading.

Is international law binding in NZ?
To have effect in New Zealand, international obligations must be incorporated into New Zealand law. In many cases this will require an amendment to domestic law to give effect to a treaty obligation. In other cases it will be necessary to pass entirely new legislation. The language in treaties is often ambiguous.

What are the negative effects of international trade agreements?
The disadvantages are twofold. If FTAs are not set up within the right framework of policies, they can diminish rather than enhance economic welfare. The second disadvantage is that they are not good vehicles for liberalising trade in sectors on which parties outside the agreement have a major influence.
