Of course Meth is everywhere – why this is becoming a national security issue

Meth use rises significantly during August lockdown, remains elevated

Police wastewater figures show use more than doubled between July and September 2021, and has stayed well above the historical average right through to January 2022, the most recent available figures showed.

A social worker believes the drug is far more entrenched in society now than it was before Covid-19 and that it is not uncommon for children to be using it – some as young as eight and nine years old.

A researcher is worried some people who tried it out of sheer boredom during lockdown are now hooked and continuing to use the drug.

The sudden forced importation of huge swathes of hardened Australian crims into the NZ criminal scene is a unique event and they bring with them a level of violence unseen before in the NZ criminal underworld and that isn’t the fault of Labour!

These new Australian connected gangs don’t use Chinese organised crime syndicates for their meth, they have Mexican cartel links who are ultra violent and produce a higher grade meth for a far cheaper price and that the explosion of organised hits and assassinations that have plagued the NZ criminal fraternity for the last 5years is being driven by these new Australian imports.

These new 501 syndicates fly under the radar, unlike the Rebels and Comancheros, they don’t display patches and move with cunning and strategic purpose to strengthen supply chains and market protection.

When alpha gangs like the HeadHunters and Hells Angels are defending their HQs with steal plating after attacks you know shit has gotten real.

Bad news is that this dynamic is about to get far, far, far, far, far worse…

New Aussie deportation laws could see more Kiwis thrown out

The Australian Senate’s due to vote on controversial new migration laws on Tuesday, that could see more New Zealanders deported under the existing 501 policy.

…that’s right folks, the 501 law that picks people Australia doesn’t like and who have had absolutely no upbringing in NZ and dumps them back here with all the social damage of using a hammer on an infant is about to get far worse!

Police reports reveal fear of 501 deportee overload and risk to public safety

Newly released intelligence reports lay bare the extent of concern police have about the impact of “501” deportees – and their fears that the system to reintegrate deportees is not robust enough, potentially endangering the public.

A total of 2572 people were deported from Australia to New Zealand between January 1, 2015 and February 28, 2022 – more than double the number expected when Australia began the policy in 2015. Over the same period, New Zealand has deported 32 Australians.

Almost half (49 per cent) of the 501s had reoffended since arriving in Aotearoa, with crimes ranging from violence offences to drug and traffic violations.

The Police intelligence reports reveal concerns about whether the system was strong enough to manage deported child sex offenders and gang members in particular.

The problem is that for decades we’ve had NZ Politicians who have pretended that our domestic gangs were the worst in the world when the reality is the Australian criminal scene is vastly more violent and dangerous than the domestic gang scene.

This brutal take over of the meth scene in NZ by the 501 syndicates is what is driving much of the violence and addiction.

The 501s source their purer, cheaper meth from South American cartels who are themselves another level of violence up from the Australians.

They have the money and sophistication to target and bribe police systems and the judiciary, they are an entire world of corruption above the domestic gangs.

The danger in the South American Cartels seeing NZ as a legitimate market can not be under stated and the focus must be on severing their connection to NZ.

Make no mistake, the gang war is coming, the fight over the meth trade will only heat up and the Police Intelligence Unit is going to have to lift its game…

Gang Intelligence Centre leadership concerns revealed in document release

New Zealand’s Gang Intelligence Centre has been blighted by poor leadership and has been struggling to reduce the harm caused by organised crime.

Multiple sources RNZ has talked to said the leadership of the Gang Intelligence Centre was “clueless”, and one person said it was run by a bunch of buffoons.

Leadership were said to have no understanding of the gang environment, which in turn meant the centre was failing to have an impact on the harm being caused by gangs.

…when you have gangs spraying other gang pads with semiautomatics, you have lost control of the situation.

This would not be happening if there was a competent Gang Intelligence Centre. The point is to never let shit get to this level.

This lack of leadership is concerning on a range of fronts.

The first is of course the eruption of gang violence we are witnessing due to the 501s taking over domestic gangs.

The second is that we have handed Police a bewilderingly huge power in the form of facial recognition software they gained from a corrupt company without any sign off from politicians or the people.

So we have a Gang Intelligence Centre armed with the most powerful mass surveillance system who have no idea how to deal with the looming gang war!

Everyone feeling safe yet?

  1. “Police have not signed up to New Zealand’s new charter to guide algorithm use, though another 21 Government agencies have.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment which harbours Immigration also has not signed up; Internal Affairs has signed.”

    Strange indeed.

      • Don’t crims vote Labour? Didn’t the head of the Mongrel Mob plead for members to vote for Jacinda, because she’s soft on crime and like to hand out money to them?

Now I’m not sure how many of these 501s will vote, but it seems like Labour are not to displeased of their arrival because they expect them to vote Labour.

      • Are you really that stupid, or are you just making an off colour joke?.. Both SNZ and BG are proof that there are far too many people in NZ that have no idea of the reality, or timelines regarding this issue, and don’t care,,, You both are either bereft of intellect, or have the morals of a desperate junkie… This is a purely Australian driven issue, and the NZ government wasn’t consulted. Why would they, as the liberal party, and their lickspittles the dingo testicles for brains nationals have nothing but contempt for NZ.. It is racism, pure and simple, but of course, the tory halfwits here only have memories that go back a few months at best… So of course none of you can remember when this situation actually started.. Earth to tory ditto heads. It was during the period of the Key government, and they sat on their arse and waved them through.. No doubt knowing that they were most likely not to be in government when the shit really started to hit the fan… Such moral titans!! I was in Australia when this started, and it was noticed just how obsequious the NZ government was toward the libs.. This was pre 2015 btw, and doesn’t even have the support of the rational majority there.. It’s purely dog whistling to the racist rump that hates both their indigenous population, and anyone else that wasn’t born there..

  2. A better gang intelligence unit isn’t going to fix anything. The police’s hands are largely tied by civil liberty laws on many fronts, so short of something illegal, this is all we’ll get folks.

Unhelpfully this government pseudo legalised meth possession and use by ensuring the police should only ever make “health referrals” if caught with the shit, that’s if the person “consents” (the over emphasis on “consent” being another of Labour’s social working over law, disasters). Well meaning but ultimately it was nothing more than moronic hand wringing naivity and I will politely assume that rather than the Hells Angel’s, the Mongrel Mob and Commancheros donating to Labour as the other viable option. So who can be surprised that it’s use it going up in leaps and bounds when is become a preferred option rather than going to the local bottle store. I mean dealers even accept credit, and other forms of payment!

That along with the sliding scale of consequences of dealing in it reducing, to empty prisons. A woman up to her eyeballs in commercial grade distribution by laundering the proceeds got Home Detention recently.

The risks for criminals in NZ is not law enforcement, far from it, but each other which puts the rest of us at increasingly greater risk accordingly of becoming collateral damage. This versus the rewards that are just so attractive it’s simply logical we are where we are. Just ask our ram raiders!

NZ is trying deal with a gaping arterial wound with one of those little round band aid plasters as the solution.

Labour aren’t entirely to blame but their horribly relaxed attitude verging on indifference to this poison certainly has worsened the problem greatly. No horse shit announcements that we get it and special funding for something or other to get it out of the headlines will fix it. Until a complete change of attitude is seen by government to this nightmare, meth will claim yet another group of victims, rather ironically the Labour Party!

As it stands, Labour are to drug dealers, what they are to property speculators. Besty’s!

  3. Arm the police, invest heavily in recruiting more whilst also increasing their training and skills. Bring in experts from the US who have the skills, technology and most importantly experience in fighting these terror organisations. Leave 3 strikes alone and make dealing meth punishable with very very lengthy sentences in harsh prisons.

At the same time, decriminalise use and possession of personal amounts of meth (and cannabis) and plow money into treatment. Legalise weed whilst you’re at it.

Invest in housing, jobs, etc. provide hope and opportunity.

Most of all though, stop pandering to these woke fuckwits and bring the hammer down on all gangs so fucking hard that life as a member of Rotary let alone the Mob just isn’t worth considering let alone actually living.

    • so called yank ‘experts’ have singularly failed to deal with their own drug and gang issues so yeah let’s throw money at failures..makes sense.

    • yeah US cops as trainers great idea..we can run a national sweepstake on how many innocent people get offed in a year..that should raise some cash for surplus US AR15s and APCs for your local keystone cops…

      HUZZAH

  4. Meth use is caused by hopelessness. What can make a person feel more hopeless than being stuck in a rotten rental, struggling to pay the rent, dreaming of owning your own home. Then COVID comes and it looks like house prices are going to drop which will finally give you a chance. What happens then is the sickest thing ever witnessed in NZ. The governor of the RBNZ removes LVR’s and drops interest rates to near zero. He intentionally creates a feeding frenzy among the already rich scumlords who buy up everything which increases house prices by 40%+. Jacinda says on TV that “its what kiwis want” ? Then because house prices have gone up and landlords have made $400k+ tax free capital gain per house they decide to put rents up even though their mortgages are cut in half. During all of this the Adrian Orr says “It’s a first class problem”. And our cardboard cutout of a leader was voted in to fix the housing mess. All faith in government has gone, Kiwis are on their own, hopelessness is rife, crime will get worse, hatred is growing and all because of the way in times of trouble our glorious leaders decided to protect the rich at all costs and threw the poor to the wolves. The social contract is in ruins, now it is everyone for themselves. Live with it, rich pricks, reap what you have sown….. enjoy!

    • The people making money and importing inMeth and other drugs are not hopeless – people like Sroubek has a 2million plus NZ house, are wealthy and are sponsoring in workers (like his wife) to NZ citizenship. Similar to cigarette smuggling here. Drug & illegal smuggling in NZ seems to be considered a small crime not to worry about by authorities and immigration, and plenty of money from taxpayers to pay for their victims and the victims of those victims. Whether rehabilitation, health system, justice system, police system, jail system, benefits system, housing systems – all these are being overloaded by drugs that harm. Even liquor stores are on the rise in NZ and considered ‘essential services’ during lockdown.

NZ is enabling socially poor business here and now surprised how out of hand it is when we have kids doing ram raids, foreign turned NZ youth making social media videos glorifying crime here to encourage more criminal activity into NZ and gangs up 13%.

        • Sorry it’s food stuff. https://supermarketnews.co.nz/news/social-supermarket-for-kaitaia/

Will be great for everyone else struggling to see gang members getting their own free food supermarkets so they can feel dignified! Sarcasm.

Instead of making people richer they hope to make them feel better about getting food parcels.

Meanwhile on planet NZ, what do they think it looks like to people working really hard, saving every penny and ensuring that they support themselves with insanely high food prices in supermarkets to have the government more worried about ‘dignity’ than food prices for their favourite woke demographic?

          • Labour have to loo9k sorry for people struggling but in actual fact they are reacting to the complaints of Maori authorities. Labour doesn’t care about people striving and struggling except when it’s a soundbite or photo op visiting Kainga ora.
No communist style strong working fists on display, scarves around sun browned faces fresh from the fields, or even clinics and help plans for parents with young children. Houses and cheap starter loans went with that image, that view on life. Now it’s looking modern, fast talking and rather patronising is the accepted look.

  5. What do they expect when NZ seems to think drug smuggling is OK aka Sroubek and how our legal system handles deportations.

Many of the high profile criminal cases in NZ are still here fighting deportation decades later – NZ officials are too woke to deport anyone. https://www.newsroom.co.nz/convicted-drug-smuggler-karel-sroubek-fights-deportation https://www.ghaintpunjab.com/ghaintpunjab/Article/16134/lovepreet-brar-punjabi-singer-issued-deportation-notice

With a small population it becomes obvious that NZ is creating a higher percentage of people in NZ who have criminal tendencies by not removing overseas criminals, outside of statistical averages with those born here – especially as 20 -25% of our resident population are from overseas already. This is when good character assessments and high needs risks, are crucial but thrown out the window in NZ in our ‘hunger games’ style poverty system.

Having so many people (in particular youth) glorifying guns and crime in NZ (including rap videos or social media from criminals) is why it now becoming the norm to attack people in broad daylight – even children attacking other children. They are emulating the permissive crime culture of NZ.

You now have situations where kids don’t report any violence as they are too scared of repercussions. Security guards paid to secure public places do nothing as kids are attacked in public. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/tauranga-willow-st-bus-stop-allied-security-slammed-for-inaction-as-teens-attacked-girl/KOFPLUMG5TYYKXXWK7TBPCWZ2U/

Security and police now seemed not to be able to fight crime in NZ, in fact they seem more interested in helping gangs get more benefits https://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/news/crime/jacinda-seems-to-trust-me-why-wouldnt-you-mongrel-mob-man-behind-meth-rehab-programme/ than helping the victims of crime.

Meanwhile our legal system and police and immigration systems are too woke to joke. They are too busy in committee meetings about the latest woke worry, micro aggression and task force, to bother to address growing crime in NZ. It’s someone else’s problem.

Australia are deporting over 2572 undesirable people while NZ can only bother to deport 32 back to Australia.

That is why we get Tarrant https://www.skynews.com.au/world-news/nz-court-hears-brenton-tarrant-meticulously-planned-out-terror-attack/video/f99ea6bf6fdcf1af47e74a1391af4ead and Samsudeen https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/auckland-mall-terrorist-forged-medical-documents-boasted-about-duping-immigration-officials/P4TXIN7YOI2OENGEKTWRCV2AD4/ as extreme examples.

But the ram raids, Meth use increases, violence, burglaries, identity fraud, bribes and so forth in NZ are showing that NZ is becoming a place filled with more crime.

Allowing so many financial and social benefits to anybody coming to NZ who are overseas nationals (which are not reciprocated in other countries) is part of why NZ has become so desirable to the more criminal, higher needs elements. If you don’t get your way to become a NZ national you can just sue or put pressure on, put a woke Herald/RNZ/Stuff story in, and government caves in and gives anybody including people who are going to be ongoing burdens to NZ, NZ permanent residency.

Politicians and Immigration seem to have thrown out the criteria to be a good citizen and able to support yourself to become a NZ resident. If someone is struggling in NZ to support themselves, then this is likely to be what happens going forward. NZ is importing in poverty and people with high needs to compete against NZ poor and high needs nd with such low wages and ease of crime here, it’s no wonder that this has now become a viable choice. Gangs up 13%, kids breaking into stores to steal, or attack others, is now normal headlines.

Just changing the way crime is reported, doesn’t solve more crime and statistics. Waste water meth use is telling as is all the convicted criminals in NZ, who decades later are still here fighting deportation and people getting rich off that.

  6. And once again Martyn….drugs in the news and your trot out the Aussie 501s, gang violence increases and again 501s to blame!
    Why, because they are white?
And here was me thinking the NZ Maori gangs are run just like the Rotary or Lions clubs, a nice bunch of misunderstood boys who help the community!
Mongrel Mob/Black Power have been dealing in drugs for bloody decades and if you think it’s just weed they sell, and those nasty white 501 felluhs are the only ones into P and hard drugs peddling…..I have a bridge for sale!!

    • The 501’s are a mixture of races, if you think that they are all white, then you show your complete ignorance of modern gang culture.

    • Im Right the 501s that have been deported here will have varied ethnicity. 501 is the section that covers “character” in the Australian Immigration Act. It doesn’t mean ‘white deportee’.

    • Im right is totally wrong in this case.

Meth was hardly a problem under Sir John Key’s National government.
Now, with this ineffectual Minister of Police and Police Commissioner, New Zealand has seen an explosion of meth.

Time for Act and National to win in 2023 and get rid of meth again and restore Law and Order in New Zealand.

      • Andrew why did National spend 120mil on p testing housing if it wasn’t “ a problem”. Either you are wrong or it just shows what a con the whole scheme. Was it really about taking state owned houses, throwing out the tenants and selling of the properties?

  7. I must admit the abject failure of ALL govts over the years to address the gang issue in any meaningful way means in some areas they are ‘the authorities’
by going with ‘they’re alternative iwi’ to ‘throw money at gangsters to be good boys’
frankly at this stage and with the power and strength they’ve acquired both violent and financial I really don’t see a path that hasn’t failed miserably overseas. IDEAS ANYONE?

one thing why are gang HQs and gang pads tolerated? buggered if I know.

    • Yep, the majority of meth precursors are produced in China, including the mexican cartels meth precursors. It also leads back to state sponsored chemical plants producing the precursor.

      • SaveNZ — spot on. Various Nations have requested China/Mexico to crack down on those operations, to limited success…hence why it is National Security issue.

    • how does it get through the borders of an island nation….it’s not like you can drive a Los Pollos Hermanos truck from shangai to auck.

  8. We have to face up to the reality of what line Australia has taken. There are people who still have ideas of friendship. Oz must regard us as weaklings, soft in the head. They have got our banks, our food supplies, and own much of our financial and infrastructure business and we keep selling anything that is profitable to them. We are so light in the head it is a wonder we don’t float. We treat them with ordinary neighbourliness and have had some drug nasties go over there and create havoc but that has happened from other immigrants there also, but they want to stamp on us like ants. They are tougher ants than us! They have lots of poisonous critters over there. How do we act in dangerous territory? We need better strategies and not just do what suits our oligarchies – our own people (supposedly) ripping us off.

    • maybe their labour will win over there and ‘scotty from marketings’ faux trumpian things demise will lead to better relations…maybe.

  9. Evidently the stuff is flowing into the country, it is very difficult to stop coming across our Borders as we can see with the ever increasing volumes being detected.

Does anyone have the answers, with Gangsterism on the rise in NZ and it being an attractive pathway for young idle youth here in NZ with the excitement and spoils of being a drug dealer, fast cars, Harley Davidson motor bikes, flash clothing, girls, jewellery what more could one wish for. Current penalties appear to be minimal for engaging in organized crime and the chances of being caught appear to be minimal as the NZ Police are too busy chasing the current backlogs of criminal activity.

Some serious thinking needs to be done on these issues as they are just getting totally out of hand here in NZ IMHO ?

  10. I have commented before that these 501s weren’t “made by Australia”, as some complain, but had been raised, whether in NZ or Oz, by their Kiwi parents. The greater influence on how children turn out is due to the parents. So when some NZers complain about Oz dumping their Oz-grown problems on us, this only raises Oz hackles.

And in any event, if the first duty of a government is to the security of their own citizens, then Oz is, frankly, doing the right thing.

NZ should be, as others have commented here, similarly hard-nosed.

    • Tom You’re not right 100% more like wrong 80%. Parents get shaped by society, and if it doesn’t mould them as children into a shape that is a resolute, good working, abstemious adults, it’s easy peasy with the kids. I found Australians very quick to be drawn into drinking and gambling, their RSL are mainstream gambling palaces for the ordinary bloke and sheila and full-blown businesses, They are prejudiced, materialistic – more than us, self-centred and not very kind. Well not so different to us, but some degrees more so, and so their crims develop extra potency.

    • yup fill aussie departure lounges with 501s, regular passengers will go apeshit when their planes are turned around without landing, airlines will complain to govt..let’s face it aussie business interests have more pull than any NZ PM.

    • be easier to give them new names and passports, and then put them on a flight… but turn a plane around on the tarmac? not going to happen.

      • oh I’d refuse it landing permission let their paying customers do our whining for us.
if they enter under false names then deport to country of departure…auz

        • The planes don’t carry enough fuel to do a return flight.

My other suggestion was give the 501’s new names and passports and then send them back. It would be cheaper for the taxpayer in the long run 🙂

          • send ’em back under pseudonyms isn’t a bad idea..
well they will just have to carry more fuel..another unwanted expense to ozzy airlines that could work in our favour…

  11. Decriminalise Meth. Go on. Give it a go.
Primarily, the reason there’s a P epidemic is because there’s money in it and there’s lots of money in it because it’s illegal and that’s why the gangs are all over it.
Make P, aka Meth, freely available to everything with nostrils and see what happens.
In other countries where they have more oxygenated blood going to their brains than we do, like Portugal for example, allowing people to do what ever they like with their bodies seems to work better than giving the public the bash for behaving in a manner that defines us as a species. Hedonistic and not giving of fucks, mostly. And why not? Go us I say.
Personally, I’d rather my state, the state I pay for with my taxes, to behave in a manner that’s more befitting a mature and intelligent organisation focusing on information and non judgemental support than a gaggle of old lunatic piss heads squawking about how the youth of today are out of control. We’re human beings for Christs sake! We’re meant to be out of control. And we should expect to be nurtured and supported when we fuck it up.
The decriminalisation of all recreational drugs works as can be seen by the effects of legislation in other countries where there are less hysterical morons blocking the way with their ancient, idiotic ignorances. Get over it and now fucking get on with it.
Monday. Decriminalise ALL drugs. Tuesday. Recreational drug use is now a medical health issue NOT a criminal justice issue. Wednesday. The gangs are fucked. The police have their feet up. Thursday. Accidental OD’s from poisonous chemicals used to make junk E etc stops showing up in A&E’s around the country. Friday. Pop on your Brothel Creepers because here comes a rip snorter weekend.
    Wikipedia:
    Brothel Creepers.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brothel_creeper

    • Well CB the decriminalisation approach seems to have had positive results in Portugal. That’s the insanity of the whole situation. People keep screaming for amping up solutions that have been proven not to work at all.

      • This is not a matter between Portugal and New Zealand. This is a matter of large quantities of meth amphetamines causing massive damage to New Zealand families, drug addicts and frontline staff.

It has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the words “get tough on crime” doesn’t work but also makes front linestaff jobs harder.

The laws of New Zealand must be able to take its own course. One thing of note is that Portugal shares land boarders with some of the highest producing meth nations in the world where as New Zealand is surrounded by ocean yet that terrany of distance has allowed the decay of New Zealand to catch upto the 3rs world.

To meet these new challenges new adjectives are going to have to be made that gives way to the rule of law and kiwis and non kiwis alike.
