Waiheke Island marina: Video appears to show protester kicked in face

A video of an incident at the controversial marina development on Waiheke Island appears to show a protester being kicked in the face.

The violence being meted out by corporate thugs destroying Waiheke Island so rich prick developers can exploit the environment for their benefit is educational to the rest of us.

At a time of extreme climate crisis events, 22521 people on the emergency housing wait list and 190 000 children in poverty, we will see an explosion of pent up ‘growth’ in the form of exploitative development for the elites.

We are seeing it on Waiheke, we are seeing a Chinese corporation doing it in Dome Valley and we will see it everywhere else as Covid passes.

For locals wanting to protect their local environment from this type of exploitation, Waiheke Island protestors are showing us that only civil disobedience to the point of forcing the other to use violence is the only tactic that will stop this type of exploitation masquerading as development from proceeding.

The legal system is biased in favour of the developer and these Courts only exist to give the pretense of fairness so that these exploiters can get away with their exploitation!

The system is rigged so the only ethical response is direct action civil disobedience to the point whereby the Developer’s Thugs have to use violence.

TDB Recommends NewzEngine.com

Livestream the violence and let public outrage do the rest until the Developers have to give up.

We are either prepared to commit never ending acts of civil disobedience or these rapacious death cult capitalists will denigrate our land for venal profit.

The only question your children will want to know the answer to in the future will be ‘when did you join the fight’?

  1. Similar demos and protests helped turn the tide of public opinion against the deep sea oil drillers off our coast. Remember when Lucy Lawless was arrested on one of those rigs… Gee, we could have had the kind of events they’ve had in the Gulf of Mexico and in the Caspian sea – as well as more oil spills along our coast.

Now, they’re gone. Eventually, proactive demos are effective.

    • they’ll be back next year to carry out legally binding contracts.
They haven’t gone away and neither has our need for fossil duels.
In the meantime we are doing the same as we have always done regarding our energy use and it’s effect on our environment.
      Absolutely NOTHING.
      No bio fuel development.
No revocation of the forced privatization of the electricity supply.
      No electrification of the railways.
No shutting down of Tiwai Point to free up much needed electricity so Huntly can be shut down.
No upgrading of railways. and no taxes on large trucks.
Everything is subsidized by taxing the private vehicle owner.
No development of public transport but plenty of Idiot MP’s talking crap about an industry none of them know anything about.
No communication between government and the energy industry.
We have a government of idiots with no Energy Policy or plan who think they can do what ever comes into their empty heads and everything will keep on working.
Energy intense industries have contracts and legal obligations our government thinks it can fuck these people over just like they did with Firearms owners.
      We are truly fucked.

        • Neither of which will be sending power out of their local areas due to the inadequate power transmission networks. We have plenty of clean renewable electricity already in NZ but becausee of privatization we have poor transmission infrastructure. Local small network solar farms are always welcome neither of those solar farms are yet operating and will only supply their immediate areas.More power is being generated by geo thermal at Ngawha in the Far North. Funny how that never gets a mention by Jacinda and co, knowing them they probably haven’t heard of it. These small scale solar farms are window dressing.

          • “Neither of which will be sending power out of their local areas due to the inadequate power transmission networks.”

By supplying their local areas they reduce grid load. Effectively the same result.

        • All good stuff but without upgrading transmission lines they will not be sending any extra generation into the national grid. the privatization of our electricity networks has held NZ back for years and makes our electricity overly expensive and means that the electrified future the climate commission is babbling about will only happen for the rich. The [poor (the majority ) will not be able to afford elctric vehicles, heating or cooking equipment becasue of the cost of power. We pay 44 cents a unit for power in the Far North and so far the geo thermal at Ngawha has not made ANY difference to that pricing.Interest free loans for householders to install their own solar setup( like Aussie did over 20 years ago) are more effective for working people. And solar works off light not high sunshine hours. Germany produces 26% of it’s power from roof top solar. Germany averages 1300 hours of sunshine a year. NZ averages just over 2000 hours of sunshine. and yet we have no nationwide rooftop solar program why?Becasue we privatized our elctricity generation and the market created by our governments doesn’t want independent solar generation becasue it makes too hard for them gouge us. So we have an inefficient mess that will never serve our national energy needs. And so the use of fossil fuels will continue for industries becasue electricity is too expensive in NZ.

          • Yes, totally agree – there’s huge disappointment that we’re not seeing any move whatsoever to end privatisation of electricity. It is essential for human life, for keeping children – and adults – out of hospitals…

And, now in particular, when they’re instigating new home building programs, – they have FAILED to include solar panels as a requirement for those new homes. That omission is mind-bogglingly short-sighted, and mean spirited.

They subsidise or incentivise businesses and corporations, to build for-profit power generation, but fail to help ordinary people become self-sufficient.

      • The system is operated [by the government and bureaucrats] for the short-term benefit the banks, corporations and opportunists.

So you are right; nothing will be done that will impact negatively on the profits and speculations of those banks, corporations and opportunists.

Indeed, the Earth will be rendered largely (or completely) uninhabitable for humans in a very short frame by the maniacs who would rather die a miserable death than challenge business-as-usual.

I think we’ve got around two more years of the hot air and bullshit the NZ LINO government runs on before the system collapses, commencing with the collapse of the US economy later this year.

The natural systems that make life-as-we-know-it possible have already been pushed way beyond the threshold of collapse by widespread industrialism and massive population overshoot.

        Yes, we are truly fucked.

This catastrophe has been just over 400 years in the making…bloody Newcomen and his coal-fired steam pump for facilitating the removal of coal from flooded mines!

Now we’ve got micro-plastics in everything, including our food and bloodstreams.

    • The biggest oil spill in NZ was the Rena, extremely damaging to the environment oh and it is ongoing, nothing to do with oil drilling by the way and you can expect a lot more of such spills from ships now that we will be importing all of our fuel from China. Also there will be truck accidents where oil is spilled on land because much of fuel will be trucked from Tauranga in the Nth Island. Watch this space for increased carbon emissions and a whole bunch of oil spills. All thanks to government policy and Labour being owned lock stock by the PRC.

      • Sad that the Greens and Labour seem to be more interested in helping the PRC than their own people. That’s why the Natz were voted out.

    • The system is broken and Labour and the Greens are enabling and enforcing it, while using weasel words to pretend it’s out of their control. They signed the TPPA, they allowed the Chinese waste management to buy the land in the first place for that purpose knowing that the public will then have to mount an expensive an ultimately fruitless campaign to stop it. The laws are wrong about Waiheke and the Dome, that’s the problem and why Labour and Greens are taking away freedom of speech instead of laws to prevent wildlife decline and economic equality and pollution.

  2. Local elite suburb vs yachties .. a bit like Epsom protecting a local school zone while its MP talks of freedom ..

  3. Chloe’s bn making headlines for the ‘ right reasons –

lately with her committment to Katy Thomas and now with her support on the Waiheke protest enviromental court injunction ( 2:20 )

and theres another issue – from what i understand not everyone believes they were properly consulted .

this reminds me of an article from TDB adressing concerns about iwi leaders calling the shots only , and leaving out 84% of Maori urban authorities in the consulting process .

  4. Below is a quote from RNZ news.
I can summarise it as: ‘ We are the cops and we do not give a fuck because the protestors are trespassing and the security staff are therefore allowed to beat them up.’
The Security personnel involved seem to have forgotten that the traditional method is to call the police and have them beat up protestors for you.
Of course with the full sinicisation of our country we will eventuallyhave Chinese companies with their own armed security forces, as they have in Africa, they will eventually have full immunity to shoot protestors.
Anyone who doubts this trend is coming should remember the incident in which Xi Jinping’s bodyguards were allowed to accompany him into Parliament and assault Russell Norman for showing them a Tibetan Flag. You may also remember that John Key and Rodney Hide apologised to the Chinese for exposing Xi to the incident. Lockwood Smith said he would make sure that it did not happen again and Phil Goff said Russell should just have made a silent protest.
Odd I understood that trespassers should be forgiven.

Auckland Central Police area commander inspector Gary Davey said police were also aware of today’s incident.

“Some of those present have trespassed at the marina construction site. We note that a number of security staff on site were assaulted whilst exercising their legal right to prevent trespass from occurring,” Davey said.

“Local police staff attended after this incident occurred, however, due to the location of protesters it was deemed unsafe to remove them today. While police recognise the public’s right to protest peacefully and lawfully, we are disappointed in the behaviour displayed today.

“Police will be following this matter up and will be laying charges against protesters that have committed criminal offences.”

  5. Charges will be laid against protesters. No mention of security staff kicking people ? I presume the kicker will be given a police uniform and a pass at police college. Regards, Keith

  6. Amazing how Phil Goff as a Labour Government lackey supported the Foreshore and Seabed Legislation to ensure that access to all beaches in Aotearoa would be freely available to all, then he approves Resource Consent to allow Tony Mair, Kitt Littlejohn and Scott Frickley to erect a private 180 berth Marina and carpark on the beautiful Putiki Bay.

And who will benefit from this destruction – you guessed it the wealthy 1%ers.
How many more bays do these money hungry destructors plan to destroy.

These so called “developers” are getting plenty of assistance from the Warden Consulting Security thugs who are viciously assaulting the female protectors, and the NZ Police are standing by doing nothing. For more videos look at Protect Putiki FB page. It is horrific.

Typical colonisation practices, they’ve taken most of the land, now they are after the sea and the beaches.

Save Putiki Bay and the Little Blue Penguins.

  7. The two Ngati Paoa entities and the Auckland council started this fiasco 5 years ago.

I told them all then that this would end up with a cluster needing a big dose of ointment, but did they listen.

The deal was that the council gets an upgraded vehicle ferry wharf and facilities built for free.
The developers got the Americas Cup fever and suckered investors into the project to fleece wealthy boat owners for hireage fees, and or sell the berths at a huge profit. Well they’re fucked now that the AM Cup has sailed away to somewhere else offshore! Hehe!

Meanwhile the cuzzies are still at war blaming each other for not having the legal authority at the time to sign off the consent.

    6 or 7 appeals later…

So now we have iwi board v iwi board and another iwi in a scrap for Mana over the area as well as environmentalists, locals and councillors running everywhere and no rich investors to be seen because it looks like they’ve missed the boat!

Now the developer is under pressure to complete the project because the investors are wanting out of their purchase agreement contracts and will soon be making bookings in court to find a way out of these contracts. Hehehe!

The security guards are thugs. None have provided their CIA numbers and ID’s as they’re required to and, if requested, to produce them on request.
Assaulting protestors is just that. The Police too got it a few hits in and to top it all off. Ramming a wahine with a boat is just like the cop car getting rammed in Auckland this week and that person was charged for using a vehicle as a weapon in less than 24hrs!

Let’s see how this plays out because the work has come to a halt today until Monday when the Environment Court is likely to have made a decision about the breaches of the construction & consent(s).

May the biff go on until the fat cats leave!

    • In a nutshell Denpaoa, it’s all about the money – apparently 180 berths have already been sold. They won’t be happy chappies. I wonder how they will get their money back. Who
      cares???

    • Sadly this stops working as Labour and Greens want to attract the high wealth individual from around the world to buy up the marina berths and the rest of NZ assets. No self respecting billionaire doesn’t have a super yacht – as polluting business actions increase global warming, the owners can sail away in their modern day ARK from the riff rath.

  8. Give a man (or woman) a uniform and the stamp of ‘authority’ -even if that authority is entirely fake- and that man (or woman) will soon become a thug and a bully…and may even commit murder if allowed to -as per American-style policing.

As we descend into climate chaos as a consequence of accelerating Planetary Meltdown and we descend into social mayhem as the economic system collapses, we will undoubtedly witness a lot more violence against those who recognise the system as rotten-to-the-core and those who operate it as criminals.

  9. The Greens seem to be MIA?? – Other than Chloe.

    Where are they?
Why are they failing to speak up, let alone to show up?
Why are they not being held accountable by the media, for failing to even speak up?
    (Or, have I missed it?)
Surely, they were voted in to take action in just such situations.
