When your co-governance racism is so great that even Shane Jones splutters

Do you have any idea how badly you have fucked up if your co-governance racism is so cross burning that Matua Shane Jones needs to step in and admonish you???
Shane Jones has labelled an Act councillor’s complaints that a co-governance “takeover on steroids” was happening in the Far North as “perverse” and “pathetic”.
Following a social media firestorm sparked by Bay of Islands-Whangaroa ward councillor Davina Smolders over Māori involvement in local body politics, the Far North District Council yesterday voted to expand a Māori liaison committee.
The council’s plans caused online controversy after Smolders claimed in an interview with podcaster Duncan Garner that appointment of unelected members to its committees was “illegal”, “undemocratic” and “co-governance on steroids”.
More than 100 people, many carrying Tino Rangatiratanga flags and homemade banners, gathered outside the council chambers in Kaikohe to support the plans and under-pressure Mayor Moko Tepania before yesterday’s meeting to finalise the committee’s membership.
Smolders had called for Local Government Minister Simon Watts to appoint a Crown monitor, claiming Māori influence was “infiltrating every single decision” and was a “complete takeover” resulting in “two systems, two rules” – which Watts declined, saying the high threshold in law to intervene had not been met.

Dem banjos been twanging extra hard because Duncan Garner has been fanning the flames of clickbait racism with his absurd interviews with ACT Party stooge, Davina Smolders.
Last local election, ACT called for hard right candidates who were rich enough to self fund their campaigns to stand in local councils.
These were ideological mercenaries who were wealthy enough to self fund their own campaigns.
ACT stood 46 candidates, 9 were successful, Davina Smolders was one of them.
After a hysterical interview with Graner, Smolders insinuated that Western Civilisation was nearing its end because the Far North Council excised the law and allowed for Māori representatives to be part of the process.
When you consider almost 50% of the Far North are Māori, them using the law to appoint Māori representation is actually the very best of all worlds because a string Māori voice in decision making is a strength at local level, BECAUSE THEY ARE THE LOCALS!
Remember – all the Far North did was exercise the exact powers to do what they did in the legislation!!!!!
The Local Government Act provides “principles and requirements for local authorities that are intended to facilitate participation by Māori in local authority decision-making processes” – and seemingly encourages what Tepania and the council are doing.
Why is it the millisecond Māori use the law to do what the always says, it’s suddenly the end of Western Civilisation?
Why?
Garner has platformed a toxic ideological right wing mercenary to flame red necks. Duncan is one Shubz interview away from mutating into Sean Plunket!
He’ll be hosting a show on Reality Check Radio soon.
I think the Far North Mayor telling him to “Fuck off” was absolutely legitimate. Duncan is the intellectual equivalence of having a mince pie and coke for breakfast.
Duncan is pandering to garden variety bigotry while pretending to uphold Westminster Democracy.
When Shane Jones, the great Waa Waa of the North, the mouth of the south, the walking Pork Barrel, The basher of the ‘Nephs and Freddy the Frog, the Woke Witchhunter, Shane bloody Jones is attacking your co-governance grievances, you know you’ve woken up a KKK rally wearing a Boy George T-shirt.

Smolders has form for lying and misrepresenting things, quite frequently driven by complete ignorance of legislation, policy and process.
Is she still on her 90 day trial? Because she is patently unsuited to the job if she still can’t understand the basics.
Poor old Dunc’s.. bedroom studio not quite the Press Gallery is it. He’ll have to take solace in his mid-life crisis Harley.
Well said Martyn. It’s impossible to have any respect for Garner [Plunket think-alike] when he launches himself into an issue that the rest of us couldn’t give a stuff about, since we have so many more important issues to address. With almost half the Far North, Maori – surely they should have a say. Despicable, ugly RACISM is so in our faces these days. If ACT’s Smolders doesn’t like it then she should resign – it wouldn’t be a great loss! On your bike!
