Rents Going Down Isn’t A National Win
I love how National pretend that rents going down is intentional on their behalf.
Bullshit.
Rents are falling because the economy is bleeding people
Their decision to smash Labour’s infrastructure pipeline early in 2024 has had a cascade impact on the economy that has seen over 200,000 Kiwis flee in two years.
This massive drop in population is not being met by a jump in migration or students or tourists and that is what is driving rents down, the Government’s vandalisation of the economy!
They have screwed up so badly that rents are being forced down because people are fleeing the country!
The ‘drop’ is a joke because most tenants are too fearful of their landlords to attempt to renegotiate rentals.
This is not a housing win — it’s an economic failure
Yes, rents have fallen, but only because National have screwed up so bad!
Rents gave fallen because rents are too dare people can’t afford to rent houses and if they do they have to share to afford to survive, as power,food and petrol are at an all time high. Also there’s too many duplexes built and nobody wants them they are ugly and over priced. Where I live Fridays homes can’t sell theirs for the reason I mentioned. Developers got greedy hope it bites them in the bum and it looks like it is. So there’s s gluten of houses people leaving has added to this and not enough jobs for many. The countries in a fucken mess the current government is destroying our country.
