The Oligarchy rushes to donate to National, ACT and NZ First

Fresh political donation figures are reigniting debate over who really influences New Zealand politics, with critics arguing the surge of money flowing to New Zealand National Party, ACT New Zealand and New Zealand First reflects the growing power of wealthy donors and corporate interests.
Why are donations flowing so heavily to the political right?
National tops party donations list, ACT overtakes Labour
The ACT Party has overtaken Labour as the party that recorded the second largest amount in donations, with the Electoral Commission releasing the 2025 donation and loans returns.
The Oligarchy rushes to donate to National, ACT and NZ First.

The richest 1% of NZ households own 18.8% of total net worth while the bottom 50% of households together hold just ~0.3% of total net wealth.
Last election:
- National received over 50% of their donations from the property industry.
- ACT received approximately 32% of the property industry donations.
- NZ First received approximately 12% of the property industry donations.
The elites donate to National, ACT and NZ First to ensure they get preferential treatment for deregulation in the areas where they have interests.
How much influence do wealthy donors have over politics?
NZ Politics is all about the best Government money can bribe.
This is class war in action, but in New Zealand the Political Left have drowned themselves in identity politics so there is no vocabulary to explain what is happening and no oxygen to express it.

Fabulous to see common sense prevailing.
Vote left vote catastrophe.
Saving people from themselves.

i suggest you ask kamala harris how donations translaye into a win…
i bet you wouldnt have the same complaints if the left had higher donations.
dont have a cry, the left pander to the unproductive, bludgers and no hopers so they deserve to have dismal donations.
You have the maturity of sperm
The national party, now one hundred years old, has taken this long to drag the once richest country per capita in the world in the 1970’s down to this level. Because of National’s denizins we’ve become a country full of corruptness and lies championed by political wart parties like ACT and sundry ludicrous little wet hen parties picking around at the crumbs under the corpses of dead primary-economy farmers. You @trevor and others are going to reap what you sowed and serves you fucking right.
All of this should have a limit on the amount any party can have. Otherwise we will just end up with what the US has got, sadly we are moving that way fast, indeed buying votes.
The damage ACT in particular has done is appalling.
When the hell will we get money out of politics.
This is clearly buying favours.
Shame on them.
The basic, fundamental problem is this.
Beginning from the late 1800’s then building up steam through the early 1900’s when the swindle picked up speed at the creation of the national party in 1936 and after the advent of refrigerated shipping our primary industry farmers have been burgled by a gangster clan of rich urban criminals and every single political manifestation since has been designed to hide that fact while the burglaries grew ever more abstract and ever more profitable.
Now. You’re job, dear reader, is to prove me wrong if you think I am.
Why would anyone in business make a donation to a party that has no understanding of how to prosper and not based on borrowing and spending on an enormous public service to create full employment
I remember full employment. Muldoon was prime minister
Muldoon was more of a socialist than most of thosecin today’s Labour Party
National have borrowed more than Labour and we have not prospered, so renders your opinion false.
We are at record numbers of unemployment under this CoC despite National borrowing more than Labour.
CG I find your comments amusing.
