Justice officials advised the government not to intervene in a court case being taken against major emitters, official documents show.
Despite that, the government announced it would amend climate laws to prevent companies from being sued over damage caused by greenhouse gas emissions, stopping a landmark case in its tracks.

…let me get this straight.
The seven Big Polluters, (five of whom donate to the Political Right), whose hand-delivered demands magically disappeared from any Official Information Act responses and were forced to the surface as part of legal disclosure out of the High Court, those seven Big Polluters, the Government’s OWN ADVISERS recommended against interfering on behalf of the seven Big Polluters and the Government implemented exactly what they wanted (despite apparently never having read the hand-delivered corporate briefing papers?)
That’s what we are being asked to believe, is it?

New Zealand’s Right spends enormous energy raging about trans people, beneficiaries and “wokeness” — while quietly cheering on the corporations, landlords and donors making their lives materially worse.

My neighbours grand daughter worked for the government in statistics .She was asked to provide a report to a minister .After spending a few weeks doing it and presenting it ,she was told to re write it because it did not match what the minister wanted .She said she could not do that because the figures dont lie and could not be presented to the public in any other way .Of course she was dismissed and added to the scrap pile .
However she was snapped up by the private sector and now earns 20% more and is not expected to lie to feather a ministers ego .
No wonder the govt wants to shut down the public sector because they dont want the truth if it does not match their ideaology
