Temporary Additional Support Cuts Hit Vulnerable Kiwis

The cruelty is the point. The Government is cutting Temporary Additional Support while families are drowning in rent, food, petrol and power bills. This isn’t fiscal discipline. It’s punching down.
The Government is stripping back support for our most vulnerable in the middle of a cost of living crisis.
The safety net is being shredded
“Families are already under pressure from soaring grocery, petrol and power bills. Instead of helping, this Government is pulling away support people rely on to get by,” Labour social development spokesperson Willow-Jean Prime said.
“Temporary Additional Support exists to help cover essentials when costs become unmanageable. Cutting it now shows just how out of touch Christopher Luxon’s Government is with what people are facing every day.
“While households are being forced to make impossible choices, this Government has prioritised tax breaks for landlords, support for tobacco companies, and subsidies for fossil fuel exploration.
This is what National’s priorities look like
“The Government’s priorities are broken: they’re cutting jobs, raising rents for people in social housing and now taking away support from the least well-off New Zealanders,” Willow-Jean Prime said.

This government needs to go people need to ensure their whanau members are registered to vote . It’s no good moaning people need to be proactive.
