Coromandel Greens Celebrate Decision That Protects Public Rights Over Active Mining Interests

Yesterday’s Court of Appeal decision is a significant moment for the Coromandel, and a testament to the persistence of local people who have stood up, decade after decade, for the protection of our ngahere, and the Coromandel Greens were pleased to see the decision.

“We want to acknowledge the extraordinary work of Ours Not Mines, led by Morgan Donaghue, whose commitment and careful legal challenge made this outcome possible.” says Green Party Coromandel electorate candidate Pamela Grealey. “This is not just a single campaign, but part of a much longer story, one that the Donaghue whānau have carried for more than 45 years in their defence of the Coromandel.”
