  1. It is heartbreaking to see in hospitals that children are dying in their mothers’ arms while doctors are looking on. The mothers and doctors are helpless, and the government is responsible for this situation. External aid is vital, but there is an urgent need for a change in the policies. The first thing should be to remove harsh restrictions on women so that they can be involved in education, employment, free association and freedom of movement, so that an additional income path is created for the families. These are the essential support lines for children that eventually eliminate problems like health and malnutrition.
Other countries and governments should work with the Afghan government to achieve these goals while channelling urgent aid to feed the children.
