NZFirst Gumboot Fascism: How robbing 700 000 Kiwis of their vote will trigger civil unrest
NZFirst’s latest migrant bashing attempt at political relevance is to disenfranchise the voting rights of 700 000 permanent residents.
No taxation without representation is a fundamental tenant of democratic faith, what Winston wants to do is rob those Kiwis of that vote.
I warned ACTs inane Treaty Principles Referendum would cause civil unrest, it did, so let’s game out what would happen if NZFirst, National and ACT win a second term and they ban 700 000 permanent residents from voting.
1: Winston demands as part of coalition negotiations to be PM for 12 months and rams through the law banning permanent residents from voting in the first 100 days because he knows if he doesn’t do it quickly it will generate too much protest and people power will stop him.
2: Many countries don’t allow duel citizenship meaning permanent residents they would have to cancel their home citizenship which a lot wouldn’t want to do especially as the rising tide of xenophobia that Winston is feeding turns the locals against them.
3: That would create a permanent shadow community that work here, get taxed here but are no longer allowed to vote here and the resentment against that would become septic and toxic very quickly leading to civil unrest because nothing inspires domestic terrorism quite like taking voting rights away from people.
4: The political distortion of removing 700 000 voters from the electorate would create a plethora of unforeseen circumstances that Winston would respond to with increasingly draconian measures.
5: The country would grind to a halt as mass strikes were called.
What I find astounding is that Labour get ripped to pieces over Bus Fare Cap costs, yet Winston can casually announce he’s stripping 700 000 Kiwis of their right to vote and no scrutiny at all.
Part of me almost hopes this happens because the backlash would be gloriously destructive.
I’m a big believer of ‘you make your bed, you lie in it’, and watching something as perverse as this manifest would be a lot of entertainment as NZF red necks struggled to justify an increasingly erratic outcome.

I (along with my ancient parents) am among the detested old sods that would be hit by this, and I was once a Winston voter, for a few years up to and including 2017.
I couldn’t vote for them after that of course as they have become utterly cooked post-Covid.
NZF seem to me to be devolving into a party of the “woke right”, adopting the same tactics and psychology of their “progressive” counterparts, leaning heavily into identarian grievance narratives, and utilizing state power to enforce their cultural preferences.
I shall be voting Green as a two-finger salute to Winston and his uncultivated Morlocks.
Yes the river of filth is getting more choked by the day .I too voted for NZF back in the day .The only decent MP they have had is Ron Mark .Tottaly down hill since .
