Max Harris is the Auckland answer Labour needs

If Labour wants to win back the urban left, it needs more than caution and incrementalism — it needs ideas, energy, and candidates who actually believe in something. Max Harris represents that shift, and his candidacy could signal whether Labour is serious about rebuilding its base in Auckland.
There are not that many on the Left who I have huge respect and aroha for, but Max Harris is one of them!
The kind of Left Labour used to have
He is one of the best Left-wing political minds in the modern Left.
He has real Left-wing social economic policy that is old school Michael Savage level heavy lifting.
He’s one of the sharpest political minds on the New Zealand Left — and he’s already helped shape real campaigns and real policy for Efeso’s Auckland Mayoralty run and he has been behind some of the biggest social policy ideas for the Left.
Free dental, Ministry of Green Works, Advocacy for Fairer Futures, Fair Pay Agreements, these he has championed alongside a strong relationship with ActionStation.
He is the Auckland answer Labour needs.
The middle class left wing vote walked to the Greens last election, Max Harris is the answer to winning that massive voting block back.
Voting Labour to ensure he gets in on the Party list is actually genuinely arguable right now.
Max Harris in Parliament would be one of the most hopeful things to come out of the next election.
Can he actually win Tāmaki?
In terms of actually winning Tamaki. Brooke van Velden just left this very right wing electorate so what do the numbers tell us?
Tamaki is so right wing that Greens, NZ First and Te Pati Māori don’t even bother standing a candidate!
Brooke won with 17,858 votes while Simon O’Connor took 13,700. Labour’s Fesaitu Solomone gained a brave 8,968.
So on paper, this is a right wing romp home, but Max Harris really is the mustard. He’s one of those unique candidates who is so good in debate while humble and funny in person, that he could win voters over. He probably has the best chance of doing really well in Tamaki than any other Labour Party candidate ever so that result will be fascinating in the election.
Green Party vote and Labour Party vote combined in Tamaki is around 11,500, he picks up another couple of thousand and he’s competitive to win it coming through ACT and National.
Max Harris is the Auckland answer Labour needs.

How fortuitous and deserving for Labour to have such talent as, Max Harris. Labour has always had more intellectual and stronger MP’s so Max really fits the bill. The difference between the Left and Right is obvious – Left are there for their party and voters, while Right are there for themselves and their egos. There is still a long way to go and while Greens are shining in NZ they need to set up NZ election support in Australia to gain the votes from those who have fled as many will wish to return at some time once this current, oppressive, corrupt regime has gone and our world is back to some normality. BIG changes are finally coming?!
