Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist language, homophobic language, racist language, anti-muslim hate, transphobic language, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

  1. Canada goes groveling back to Saudi Arabia.,
Money trumps human rights in Canada’s foreign policy.

Saudi Arabia expelled Canada’s ambassador in 2018, recalled its own ambassador from Ottawa and froze all new trade.
The decision came after Canada’s embassy in Riyadh published a tweet in Arabic calling for the immediate release of women’s rights activists held by Saudi Arabia.
At the time of the fallout, Canada was receiving at least 10 per cent of its imported crude oil from Saudi Arabia while bilateral trade between the two nations averaged $3 billion a year.
The freezing of diplomatic and trade relations also affected Saudis who were studying in Canada.
Saudi Arabia suspended all educational exchange programmes with Canada and moved Saudi scholarship recipients there to other countries.

Money has always trumped human rights in New Zealand foreign policy.
New Zealand has never stopped sucking up to the Saudi regime, even benefitted from some of the spillover from the Canada snub

When it comes to groveling to human rights abusers NZ raises the bar.

  2. I was deeply saddened to see the faces of the four middle aged men who died at the Newton Loafers accommodation just around the corner from where I work in Wellington. It seems these men fell on hard time as many people do. On a good note, I see they all had caring whanau who loved them. In fact, this horrid event enforces how important it is for all people to have somewhere safe and decent to live and we all need to remember this cause too many NZers have become bitter, nasty and judgmental and this needs to stop.

  3. A catchphrase from an English radio show was ‘The answer lies in the soil’ said in a knowledgeable voice. Probably it is true in real life. This sounds interesting.

[Professor Amanda Black] is the director of the Bioprotection Aotearoa Centre of Research Excellence. Formerly known as the Bio-Protection Research Centre, it was re-funded in July 2021 with a new approach in mind for how to tackle the tricky job of protecting New Zealand’s productive landscapes.
Her own research has led her from investigating how movement between landscapes affects the kauri dieback pathogen, to re-establishing land-sea connections in the hopes of increasing soil resilience to this disease.

Based at Lincoln University, Amanda was one of the visiting speakers to the 2023 Wild Dunedin Festival of Nature. In its eighth year, the theme for this year’s festival was whenua. More than 120 events across ten days celebrated the land and soils.

    AMEN to that @cip.
Unfortunately it may take a while.
