I watched and was less than enthused by the panel except for Jerry. Whilst I did not agree with all he said he was well structured and considered in his answers, and obviously better versed in the subject matter. That was a pleasant surprise…self slap with a wet bus ticket for damning him simply because he is a Nat.
As for the others all seemed to view the world as a nail with their only tool a hammer, subtlety of thought and any deep exploration or knowledge was entirely absent. Ben displayed tunnel vision in his high level of military knowledge, so the talk of rugby seemed appropriate. To illustrate Ben was like Sean Lynch , a Lions prop who after a grinding scrum asked Colin Meads, “How was that for scrummaging?” Meads replied that it was impressive but if he looked up he would have seen the ABs score a try. Very Sun Tsu.
