The photo above is of an angry Pakeha attacking protestors at the latest Orewa venue in Pastor Julian Batchelor’s redneck racist jamboree.
He is a snake oil merchant trying to turn frightened white people against Māori for an open conflict. His plan to host a 100 000 racist religious fascist protest the day before the election is chilling.

He is coming to a venue off my street.
I will not tolerate a racist religious fascist hosting a hate carnival in my burb without stepping out to let him hear my Free Speech on his evangelical fear mongering and race baiting malice.

It used to be that people have the right to gather for meetings in a peaceful way. The intrusion of protesters into public meetings is a recipe for disaster. It’s just anarchy.
I guess the meetings will need to be by invitation/ticket only. If you have people going to public meetings and shouting down and disrupting them is that free speech? I thought you thought, Martyn, that free speech is a thing in NZ.
Magit. Yes. I don’t know who this woman is, but I have seen Julian Batchelor twice, on Sean Plunket’s Platform. His issue is political not racial. Co-governance has not been publicly debated, or even addressed properly in the New Zealand Parliament. On one hand there’s been the Ardern government’s secretive Te Puapua development concealed even from her own Deputy PM, and here Batchelor seems to want public discussion of the issue. Being a pastor or a Christian doesn’t change the facts of the issue any more than being a plumber or a panel beater would.

I tend to agree Pope, I imagine protestors and venue goers were almost certainly behaving badly on both sides and it could be said that those who went there to protest and/or stop the meeting were the ones most likely prepared for out and out conflict.
Actually the Kelly Jay Minshull story is a great example for what happens in these situations. I dont know a lot about her but have watched one interview. In a nutshell, she is advocating that women should have safe spaces only for biological women and she gives some good reasons why. But the rainbow mob is so incensed by this they trail her everywhere she goes so the next thing you know, small alt right groups like the National Front start coming to her venues (not because she is alt right, she doesnt seem to be) but to deliberately clash with and get in the face of the progressives.
Meanwhile Kelly Jay’s fairly reasonable message is drowned out by extremists of both sides and she is tarred with the same brush of Fascism. I suspect if this keeps up the same will happen here at the Batchelor meetings. Identity politics is a zero sum game and the whole country suffers because of it.

The thing that really annoyed me about this meeting in Mt Eden is the choice of venue. Both of my grandfather’s fought fascism in WW2. I’m not saying that pastor Batchelor is a fascist, I doubt he is that ambitious, I doubt he has any ambition beyond lining his own pockets.
Hell, I don’t even think he is racist, racists to me have an ideology, you know based on skull shape or some bull shit like that, where as bigots are all about the feels. A mixture of fear, ignorance and an unhealthy dose of stupidity.
I find it ironic that the good pastor, making claims that that Maori are trying to create an ethno state, an apartheid system, when both of my grandfather’s fought in segregated units. Both were decorated soldiers. One in particular was awarded multiple medals for his courage and valor in Africa and Italy. He was religious, spent a lot of time on Marae and volunteering his time and effort for the Ratana church. I wonder what he would make of this.
I hope that RSAs and other halls bearing the name War Memorial in their title keep this in mind when he comes to their town.
