The Boomer King Wayne Brown surveys his new kingdom of Auckland

Every passing week, it just becomes more and more apparent that Aucklanders have been played magnificently by the Boomer King.

You’ll remember that when Wayne Burns won, I said the following

I would expect a ‘report’ to come out suggesting a vast leap in rates to cover the perilous position Auckland has been left in and that those rates will terrify and enrage ratepayers.

…and almost like clockwork, what was the next headline?

Auckland Council $270m budget hole: Mayor Wayne Brown responds, says 12pc rates rises unacceptable and won’t happen

Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown says the prospect of steep rates rises is not acceptable and will not happen as a result of a huge financial hole in the council budget.

…and now look at what is being said…

Auckland Council considers selling assets to fill $270m shortfall

TDB Recommends NewzEngine.com

Auckland’s deputy mayor says the council will go line-by-line through its assets to try to fill its $270-million budget hole.

The estimated budget shortfall for the Auckland Council’s next financial year was due to revenue drops from Covid-19, rapid inflation and interest rate rises.

…bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha – Auckland just got played and the privatisation agenda has been snuck in while you all got conned into believing the Boomer King was going to ‘fix it’, rather than ‘privatise it’.

You are being played and to be honest, Auckland deserves what comes next.

If Aucklanders are stupid enough to elect a multimillionaire over a peoples hero like Efeso, they get what’s coming to them.

Perhaps, just perhaps, if the local elections weren’t contracted out to a private company that only saw 8 polling booths for 1.2million Aucklanders more people might have voted and averted the looming privatisation fire sale.

Auckland deserves everything about to happen to us, you dupes!

  1. Few have been duped. You have to swallow a few dead rats in life and Wayne Brown was the lesser of the rat pie. Yep Desley, Mrs of the awful Peter Goodfellow, was always hovering in the background waiting for the great sell off that was underway with Goff anyway.

But… Just how was Collins one trick free public transport ever going to be funded? Magic beans? And if it failed, well, it’s racist whitey’s fault. Bet the house on it!

The choice was Auckland Council run by the Simon Wilson fantasy woke brigaders Darby, Hill and other like creatures letting the councils fiefdoms do what the fuck they wanted in the name of being “progressive”. Think AT’s $45 million 1.5 km bikeway on Meola Rd plus the unspoken but integral billion dollar and counting joiner to the out of bounds to the public CBD and ask, where was that money coming from? These seemingly endless multi million dollar spend ups didn’t come for free!

It was shit either way but reading Greater Aucklands hand wringing outrage and the smited Simon Wilson’s depressing Wayne Browns obsession pieces is therapy enough for me!

    • God what an awful right wing diatribe.
Wilson is 100% correct in his summation of Brown, you may not like it because Wilson cares for his fellow man and Brown is only interested in the money baby.

    • Don’t be so practical X-Ray – you’re not in tune with the present line of thinking. Off the rails completely. Aucklanders need inventive hopeful ideas – where there’s a will there’s a way.

  2. Surely the simplest solution is electricity. Electrify everything. Hopefully a few silly of the Silver Tsunami will touch some powerlines and move along a little quicker. We are all putting faith in rangatahi and tamariki but we are “adults” and clearly incompetent for even the modest expectation of preservation of democracy. The elite have always controlled everything, this nation is so sleepy and ignorant that Tamaki Makaurau is just a foreboding bellweather that no once actually cares about armageddon, and that we just want to preserve the classest, racist, bigotted, colonial system that continues to be ignorantly considered superior to Mana Whenua. Cogovernance is a crap solution. We need Te Iwi Maori solutions. The Pakeha have only ever introduced disease to this great motu, and neo liberal capitalism would appear to be the worst of the modern era. COVID is a product of human greed. “Cunt’s are still running the world”, also according to Jarvis Cocker; Pulp are reforming to play dates in Brexit. Such is the state of ignorance, the genius of biting social satire is going to wake up some sleepy minions in that sleepier isle than this! And, yes go directly to hell for not voting EFESO.

  3. What you must remember is that Auckland, as such, shouldn’t be there. Or anywhere else in AO/NZ for that matter.
Auckland was built, and is maintained, by stolen/ sequestered farmer money. And the last time I looked the only thing resembling Auckland farming is Kelmarna Gardens. https://www.kelmarnagardens.nz/
Auckland was created to launder farmer money. And since that’s all Auckland does, then why not have it on a warm harbour where the beautiful people have somewhere to flounce when they leave their Bentleys for the Ponsonby Cafe’s dahlings.
What will be Auckland’s undoing will be Global Cooking. People will be forced to leave The City of Smoking Sails for the more agreeable climates of Gore and Invercargill. Don’t ask me how I know that. Old Shrivelled Ball Bag Face wayne brown is the captain of a sinking city now that the money-plug’s been pulled. Jonky didn’t run for it the mincing coward he is for nothing. Wayne’s ego hasn’t yet allowed his common sense to prevail.

  4. I have one idea more.
Auckland? Strike. Strike with farmers. City people and country people have a common enemy. Have done for years. 140 years to be exact. 140 years of bullshit spurting out of those who think it a sport to exploit others. For their money, for their castrated, limp-dick vote and for their precious time alive in Planet Earth. My, that speeds by quick so best grab hold while you can.
Example: Wage and salary earner? Yes, you. You’ve just left school/Uni and you’ve got that job with potential. You work hard and diligently and have your kids and everything. But you’re not a multi billionaire are you? And you got fuck all in the way of taxes paid for resources like hospitals, dentists etc left. Got a bit of a nest egg but you’d better not get chronically crook. That’ll be gone in one op. No, you’d better not. So, how come those nine fuckers who’re multi billionaires again then? Hmmmmmmmmmm…..? They must be geniuses. Ever bought senior economics Prof’s and politicians cocaine and hookers? Might be fun, what do you reckon? Give it a go. Won’t be original but it never fails to please. “We’re the boys from down on the farm, we really know our coke. There’s much better value in Colombian Sneeze, it never fails to please. Never crumbles, there’s no waste and boy, it’s got a mighty taste. Colombian Coke! It’s finest powder, made better. ” Aye Boys?

  5. He kills off Panuku, it’s all good with me. And the AT and then CRL and the Stabback and the Wilson and then the excutives $300k pay packets and then the senior execs pay packets and then wasting money on the gold plated underused bike lanes and then the coloured spots all over the fuckn roads….last 4 councils clocked up $12b of debt! FFS!

    • Councils used to have to whine to government to get money to build castles in the sky then they were granted ‘general competency’ or something like by central gummint which meant that they could borrow to follow their dreams and business plans. Now there is no stopping them, as they have the rock of feudal ratepayers to build on, people that are pledged to support their master ratesetters, (sort of like bonesetters but conceptual). And it is a great way to get money at cheap rates which government can obtain. We pay at ordinary rates when we want to do our private business.

  6. Wayne Brown is in the job not because of the failures of the right, but of the abject failure of the left to govern for people rather then just a few ideologically aligned agency and think tanks that may provide future jobs.

Case in point Steve Chadwich, ex mayor of Rotorua, Queen of the desperate and futureless homeless in run down Motels everywhere in Rotorua, was appointed to the Tourism Board NZ. Any town dabbling in Toursim is currently shitting bricks in fear, hoping that Steve Chadwick will never discover their towns and motels.

You knw what people are? Sick of this shit. And People have started to voting like people that are sick of this shit.

  7. Excuse the alienated, the discouraged (inc. transient renters) and the young who have never mailed anything except student loan apps–their parents may have done that for them anyway! But that still leaves hundreds of thousands of lazy Supercity sods that could not be arsed voting.

Once big mouth Molloy was out, you knew the fix was in. Browny the walking cadaver is a placeholder for the Natzos, as his choice of Wifebeater Wednesday Goodfellow’s missus as Deputy Mayor shows. Desley Simpson was apparently a chair of the Finance Committee in the previous Goff led Council.

So “Desley’s hole” is going to haunt Aucklanders for some time, as did “Stevie’s (Joyce) hole” drop the Labour vote in 2017. The Natzos want to flog off potentially billions worth of POA and Airport shares for a few hundred millions worth of shortfall.

    • And none of that has got anything to do with the debt that was left behind by various left mayors such as Phil Geoff.
I am sure Aucklanders are happy having paid for the Americas Cup and shite like that. After all the rate payer provideth and the government giveth ambassadorships and posts at boards for politically and ideologically compliant empty suits. In this case, a government run by Labour who has a full majority.

      • Ze big sausage is well steamed today! and wurst of all, he manages to miss the salient point completely.

Browny maintains radio silence when it suits the strategy, and then gives 8 minutes notice to Councillors of his attack strategy. It was classic TINA. But lets see how many of the Councillors have retained their backbones at the first full meeting.

If there are two things that Wayne Brown cannot handle–they are public scrutiny, and elected members that he has not been able to bully, buy off, or persuade to do his bidding.

  8. If you can’t afford to run your car, you sell it. If you can’t afford to service a mortgage, you sell or the bank does it for you. If you can’t afford to run this blog you shut it down. Auckland fucked up, Brown and Goff being big offenders, now it must find ways to pay for the debts. Why should we pay with massive rate increases yet again? We didn’t ask for the stuff that is bankrupting the city.

  9. Yeah sure Brown is a privateer but what did the left do to stop him? Did Effeso promise anthing to the ratepayers, the people who are incentivised to vote? Nah, he didnt promise to put the kybosh on the hated cycle lanes the car driving ratepayers hate paying for and he promised free public transport that the car driving rate payers knew they would pay for. On the hustings he simpered in tune with bureacracy. Did he even have a campaign strategist? He failed to get his people, the renters and the left to vote. He couldnt promise to reduce their rent bill, phone bill, gas bill, water bill. He could easily have removed local petrol tax to put money in his constituents pockets but he didnt. There was no compelling reason to vote for him.
