I feel that if this parent was not a male, and a female did the same thing he has done, the knives would be out. She would be called a disgraceful mother – too irresponsible, too many issues to do her duties to the children.
    Instead :
While police believed Ember, Jayda and Maverick were safe it was concerning that the children who are all under 10 had been missing for so long, Baxter said.
“I think the children just by default are pretty hardy children anyway and I think Thomas is a very caring father … so let’s just hope that resource, that resilience that the children showed on the first time has stayed true in this case and they’re still very stoic and looking after each other and themselves.”

The lives of people in poverty iin NZ, Oz and the English speaking countries s not much better than in Victorian slum times. We have become clever at shutting down part of our brains, the part that deals with how to make and live in a fair society that goes beyond having a safety net with giant holes in it.

The woman in this news item has not had fair treatment. She should have some money, place to live where she wants, and counselling support to help her get on an even keel and keep whatever obsessions she has developed to a minimum and know that she can contact a counseller etc of her choice to just talk out the problems. If you’re on the way to improvement, that’ can help to keep on a stable level.
