What would Jesus do? Would he criminalise the homeless?

Isn’t there something very ugly about a Christian as rich as the Prime Minister, who has accessed every single subsidy and tax break he can, even personally benefiting from capital gains taxes that he changed – isn’t there something very ill about him criminalising the homeless?
This is a Prime Minister who whines endlessly about his love for Jesus yet he doesn’t act very Christian does he?
What would Jesus do?
Would Jesus criminalize the homeless?
Would Jesus have cut the outreach programs, cut the food banks and cut the traditional housing?
Would Jesus have changed the Emergency Housing rules, create the homeless problem and then arrest those homeless?
I just don’t think Jesus would do that.
The fine is $2000, where would a homeless person get $2000 or they get 3 months in prison, and with 43,500 people estimated to be in severe housing deprivation, isn’t Chris Luxon incentivising the homeless to get a bed, a roof and 3 meals a day for 3 months inside prison? Isn’t he making prison a better option than being homeless?
Let’s be honest, these new powers will be used to sweep clean the streets 24 hours before Cruise liners dock so we can hide the shame of our poverty from rich fat cruise ship tourists – what does that say about Egalitarian NZ in 2026?
What would Jesus tell our Prime Minister to do?

I’ve honestly lost count of how many bible bashing god fearing self righteous preach the sins of one thing and then precede to do that exact opposite thing. And it always seems to be the more holier than thou ones.
Yes the hypocrisy of religion is hilarious, think Trump, Zelda and Luxon. All believe in gold and the holy ghost and fuck everyone else as they are sorted.
Matthew 6:24 : Jesus taught that no one can serve two masters; it is impossible to serve both God and money.
Jesus does not condemn the ownership of wealth itself rather the dangers that are possessed onto ones heart and priorities.
Wealth is a tool for service and responsibility rather than merit. Y’know there’s no such thing as wealth when kids go to school hungry.
Even though Luxons priorities moves his heart away from Jesus Christ while practising his own false doctrine and as powerful as a Prime Minister is. Luxon cannot change the doctrine of Christian churches to suit his political ambitions.
