This week, Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed as the next Supreme Court justice, despite massive protests, making him the 4th on the bench that has been nominated by a president that was not elected by popular vote.
Reckless, provocative and dangerous as Trump is, and despite the gravity of our first world concerns, they’re convenient distractions from unpalatable everyday wars and tyrrany of the world’s evil affecting the already most vulnerable and dispossessed. We’re just lucky Trump’s not at war with us.
With Trump claiming China is attempting to interfere in the upcoming mid term elections, the speed with which mistakes could compound ignorance and collapse the entire house of cards is higher than ever before.
I feel sorry for Trumps, junior and senior. Don’t laugh. I really do. For them, the world is now populated by #MeToo unleashed. Unpredictable and venal women who, at the drop of a hat, will claim sexual assault in order to get what they want. Poor Don Jr fears for his sons, in a world where women have power.
This election Democrats have decided painting Kavanaugh as a pack raping angry drunk is the trick and calling anyone who thinks due process and the presumption of innocence matters as rape enablers is the magical strategy towards winning.
In the post MeToo landscape where accusation is the evidence and due process simply a means of privilege to protect itself, the Kavanaugh case has exposed a division that seems impossible to bridge. One side demands the accuser be believed and any attempt to critique or question the accusation is as much a crime as the abuse itself while the other side demands due process while denying due process.
Israel and Saudi Arabia are itching for military conflict with Iran and Trump simply doesn’t have the intellect or foresight to see the danger he’s putting himself in by starting the drum beat for war.
A brief word on the Deep State
So now the dust (or, perhaps, some measure of the ‘fog of war’) is starting to clear over Monday’s events in Syria, it’s probably prudent to reflect on what Putin can and should do in response to what has occurred.
