My Final Word: Cheap School Lunches, Lost Jobs & Hungry Kids
This week, Martyn takes aim at the Government’s overhaul of the school lunches programme — cutting costs from $8 to $3 while slashing local jobs and reducing nutritional value.
When feeding prisoners costs $2.74 per meal and school kids get just cents more — is that investment in the future, or ideological penny-pinching?
Hungry children don’t learn.
Local economies don’t thrive on outsourced slop.
And public programmes shouldn’t wear Māori names while delivering policies that harm Māori communities.
If we believe in education, equity, and dignity — we feed our kids properly.

Quick reminder that Seymour, the architect of shit lunches, didn’t know wholemeal bread costs more than white bread.
This came to light in Parliament last week when him and the Nat’s were challenged on the record increase in food prices last year.
Think on that… A supposed adult who doesn’t know the difference in price of a staple food item.
How completely out of touch do you have to be to reach your 40’s and not know wholemeal bread is more expensive than white bread.
Guess mummy and daddy still do the grocery shopping for little Davey.
Yep…Not only that, but as was demonstrated so graphically, for the whole world to see, was that Seymour couldn’t even organise a pissup in a brewery….all talk…no ability going on there.
What a hapless fool!
Tries to come across as the big know all tough guy, but when it came for him to implement his really really really dumb irresponsible ill thought through really really really dumb stupid idea, he was all at sea….
This is a guy who knows nothing about how to successfully run a business ..if he he was in the private sector, he would have been either fired or very soon bankrupt ….he looked like the classic chook with it’s head off…hapless and hopeless.
It was a terrible, flawed, idea from the get go with no quid pro quo analysis done…. yet another example of ACT/National knee jerk incompetence and ignorance bound up in delusional ideogical garbage.
It’s time to put them and their dumb ideas in the trash bin once and for all.
