Cruelty of a Redress Bill that protects the State and not those abused by the State

It is sick that the Redress System for Abuse in Care Bill passed its 3rd reading last night with such little media attention.
Despite the Royal Inquiry into the despicable historical abuse of 200 000 kids in State care specifically demanding an independent panel to decide compensation, the Government instead have made their apology hollow by setting up a State agency designed to find ways of eliminating victims of state abuse any compensation.
Survivors of abuse by the State will now have to go back to that very same State to claim compensation.
How the fuck is that Justice?
It isn’t just the appalling abuse, it is the decades the State spent fighting survivors in court with the kind of appalling legal tactics that would make your average South American cartel blush with shame.
Adding insult to injury, the Government ram through a system designed to limit the liability on the State rather than just to those it abused.
When you consider that almost 90% of gang members were wards of the State you really have to wonder at the counter productive social policies that have plagued our society.
A State who has abused kids, spent decades fighting them in Court and now passing a system that rewards them is power at its must venal.
We should all feel pretty ashamed at this.

“90% of gang members were wards of the State ”
Doesnt look like the govt is planning to pay compensation directly or indirectly to abused wards of the state who ended up in the gang life.
