Deconstructing Headlines

We have a Government too busy to fight the pandemic to see over the horizon and we have a desperate Opposition who can only win if the virus wins so have no incentive to provide solutions. 

As Northland recovers from a once in 500 year storm, as fires in Siberia thaw massive amounts of methane into the atmosphere, news reaches us that Greenland’s glaciers have passed the point of no return…

We could hold the election on September 19th, the Electoral Commission has contingency plans for a Level 2 lockdown election format so this latest outbreak could be solved in time for a 4 week campaign and we could still have the election on September 19th.

I don’t think we should.

In the rush to lockdown the country during the latest Covid outbreak, we missed the finer details of their latest example of appalling National Party behaviour. 

The cluster is not metastasizing so the current lock down of Auckland at level 3 and the rest of the country in level 2 will remain in place for 12 days.

So the National Party are as ‘aspirational’ as Sauron is when it comes to destroying public services? 

National are arguing for a delay in the election because the Virus flare up distorts the media attention onto Jacinda and not even coverage of the Opposition.

What National are doing now is incredibly dangerous.
