Alpine Fault rupturing, war in Taiwan, Sovereign Credit & stopping Winston being PM: The 4 circumstance that would justify a National/Labour Grand Coalition

The idea of a National–Labour Grand Coalition sounds absurd in normal political times — but these are not normal political times, and New Zealand may be heading into crises that could shatter the old rules completely.
I wrote very early this year about the only circumstances that would justify a Grand Coalition, and now all of sudden everyone is jumping on the idea, so let’s go through the only circumstances that would justify the Grand Coalition of Labour and National.
What could actually force National and Labour together?
Alpine Fault rupturing:
When the Alpine Fault ruptures it will be the largest and longest earthquake to occur in modern history. Knowing what an underfunded joke everything in NZ is, the enormity of our hollow infrastructure in the wake of such a destructive earthquake will either force Labour and National together or NZ will fold and become a State of Australia.
War in Taiwan:
If China takes America stuck in Iran as an opportunity to start war with Taiwan, Labour and National would need to unite as a means to resist any encroachment into the Realm of New Zealand.
Sovereign Credit:
If we are ever going to fund the capital to build the infrastructure and adaptability climate change is about to force upon us, NZ needs to look at the financial structures the first Savage Government used, and that is Sovereign Credit where the State creates the money used to invest rather than borrow it on the market. To ensure it could happen, Labour and National would have to unite.
Stopping Winston being PM:
If Winnie goes really Nigel Farage troppo this election, real gumboot fascism stuff, then National and Labour, for the good of the country, may need to consider uniting to stop Winston from becoming Prime Minister.
Would voters ever accept a Grand Coalition?
Conclusion:
Ok, so the only situations that would justify the Grand Coalition are a once-in-1,000-year earthquake, China starting a war in the Pacific, a new means of credit formation to rebuild the skeleton of NZ’s economy or Winston embracing Farage-style politics.

ick plus explainer…
Ick because luxon and limp-cheeks hipkins are repugnant liars, and explainer, being since about 1980-sh we’ve had nothing change since stumpy roger infected us with that Grand Scam of Greed aka neoliberalism.
Wikipedia ” On 1 November 1979 Lange, after encouragement from parliamentary friends Roger Douglas and Michael Bassett, …”
Until we come to admit that douglas and his stink are still on us we’re going to become one of two things.
Thing one. Fucked. Thing two. Fixed. Either we allow ourselves to be fucked by two idiots leading a dimwitted cadre of user-abuser ‘I’m sorted’ types or we re write the last 40 or more years to expose one of the greatest scams to have ever bedeviled our politics.
We have One Day and they’re stealing it for themselves.

The possibility of a Grand coalition gets advanced by the right (and it is always the right) whenever National and ACT don’t have the numbers.
They only want to share power when they don’t have any .
Bad faith cunts.
Replace taxes with MMT-based money creation and debt forgiveness jubilees. It would solve most of our problems and we have the know-how and tech to deal with inflationary pressures. Time to replace welfare with UBI and a largely free-of-charge public sector. It’s basically a utopian agenda but that’s what’s needed right now.
I sincerely hope a coalition between Labour and National never eventuates. Whatever does, won’t include Luxon, he is a ‘goner’. Peters must also run out of bluff and vitriole so his days are also numbered. But in saying this, if the Left don’t step up with fair, funded policies and taxation, they won’t survive either. There’s lots of rubbish to unpack and more rough times to come. So funding for solar, wind, hydro – ready to go; a 3rd competitive supermarket chain; a halt on privitisation; a stop to mining; control over failing businesses making them accountable for their debts; plus rules in place to stop NZ’ers being ripped off by the ‘top’ and ‘bottom’ feeders. Our decent folk deserve an equal chance to succeed!
There was an article in one of the MSM that said all approaches by Nikki-no-boats to overseas supermarket chains had been rebuffed.
In other words there is zero chance of a third supermarket chain.
