Property developer Matthew Horncastle referred to police over political billboards
A Christchurch property developer says he has been referred to police over political message on one of his digital billboards.
Matthew Horncastle, a property developer and co-founder of Williams Corporation, said the message appeared on an unrented billboard on Moorhouse Ave and urged people not to vote for Labour, the Greens or Te Pāti Māori.
In a social media post on Saturday, Horncastle said, “I put an opinion on my own billboard and the state referred me to police. Read that again. An opinion. A billboard I own. A police referral.”
The Electoral Commission said the day prior that it had “referred an individual” to the police over the publication of two election billboard advertisements that did not contain promoter statements.

How can one person misunderstand so much?

The Commerce Commission must be as confused with his request as the rest of us are.

How come NZ is so full of the likes of Matthew Horncastle [sigh]? Yet another egotistical, narcissist and totally ‘up himself’ promoter of guess who – Matthew Horncastle! He has no empathy, no conscience and certainly no class. He is simply another horrible smug critter and not really worth writing about. So go away Horncastle, and take your unveiled spite and stupidity with you. That you can waste so much money on your personal hatred billboards tells us all we need to know. Do you also run a “soup kitchen” for those in need – I really don’t need an answer to that – it’s patently obvious?
