  1. Yes Chris Hipkins is a decent human being and will do more good than harm but being better than Luxon is a pretty low bar.

He’s a neoliberal incrementalist when we need change. I get no vision, inspiration or real hope from him.

But of course the abominable CoC has to go and if it means Hipkins becomes PM that’s a small price to pay.

My party vote will be Green (though I will watch the Alliance with interest).

    1. Since Labour have abandoned the working class and by and large and embraced neoliberal economics by and large, I’m not at all optimistic about them doing anything more than fiddling around the edges. I’m not all that fussed about the Greens either given that they are mostly middle-class – but at least their heart is in the right place. Maybe TPM?

      1. ” Maybe TPM? ”

        Check out the Alliance’s policies.

They haven’t abandoned Labour’s ignored constituency until they want their votes with the usual crumbs off the I’m sorted neoliberal table.

  2. Cool thats what he wont do.

After the last election he told us he’s a believer in political tides. Wait long enough he’ll get a turn. Wheres the mongrel? The fire in the belly?

Why cant Labour state what they stand for, educate and sell their ideas to enthuse the electorate? Win and be competent.

    Or can they?

  3. ” don’t look to Chris for the Marxist Utopia, that ain’t his bag ”

” He is someone who truly at his heart is a believer in public service ”

Great faith Bomber in this guy.

If he is really that good why did he lose his government the election in 2023 and why isn’t he polling miles ahead of this horrible dictatorship ?

I still get the feeling its business as usual. And that approach is not acceptable while many of our people are marginalized at the expense of this unregulated capitalist system that Hipkins never acknowledges is at the heart of the current crises and did nothing meaningful in his last term to reform.

” the uncomfortable reality is that a Labour-led Government would almost certainly not select that path either. The grip of neoliberal orthodoxy on parliamentary politics remains iron-tight. It is not so long ago that the Ardern-led Labour Government pursued its own version of austerity—freezing public sector wages, underfunding essential services, and refusing to consider meaningful tax reform. The Green Party, despite its rhetoric, ultimately acquiesced. There is no reason to believe that a future Labour-Green arrangement would behave differently. The boundaries of ‘acceptable’ economic policy remain policed by the same assumptions that have dominated since the 1980s: low taxes, small government, and the belief that the market knows best.

  4. Well Hipkins sure couldn’t do anywhere near as bad as this CoC-up has done so far – it’s a disaster all round. There is no caring, no kindness, no fairness, lots of corruption, and MONEY / BRIBES / GREED. And they are getting votes for that? What have we become; can we stoop any lower? It’s shocking, unnecessary and cruel, yes CRUEL! To expect the lowest paid to keep footing the bills is SADISTIC. Hipkins is an astute politician with knowledge, experience and a “genuine caring attitude” towards ‘our people’ and ‘our country’. FFS what more can you ask for? The greedy will still have their wealth to keep them happy!!!!!!!!!! But why can’t they learn to SHARE, ie pay their way, show some KINDNESS and stop being so bloody RACIST. Our indigenous folk were here first – settlers stole most of the land – is that not enough for the grasping, self-absorbed cretins? I’m 94% UK and I can see it – so why can’t you? Do our lovely NZ a favour, kick this insidious CoC into touch in November unless you want to be owned by the despicable USA!

    1. After being in opposition for 3 years there first epic new policy is to shift $65million from one account to another and subsidies public transport .Public transport is already highly subsidies but only used by 6 percent of the population many of whom are high payed office workers .

      1. This is a brilliant policy capable of affecting every kiwi unlike Nationals favour for donors policies which affect 1% of the population. Taking vehicles off the toad and saving kiwis thousands instead of Nationals pitiful tax cut bribes which only assisted the top 1% says it all. Oh and Louise Upston raking in over $50,000 a year in accommodation supplements whilst cutting it to others is pure evil. Yes Trevor we know your type.

  5. Hey Hipkins! Lets make voting compulsory then lower the voting age to 16. Whatdaya reckon?
Now, one more tiny little thing. Nothing really.
Hipkins? What’s your opinion relating to roger douglas parasitising Labour then slithering off to create then surround himself with a gang of privateer mafioso’s calling themselves neoliberals? They’re the same neoliberals who weren’t voted in and can’t be voted out and yet have all the power. That’s a bit iffy right? C’mon? I want to hear you say that!
I’ve watched in horror from when neoliberalism was set on us as early as the mid 1980’s to empty us of our state owned, ie people owned enterprises’ ie people-funded assets for the people by the people to deliver to us, instead, a small group of hyper riche Machiavellian narcissists. ( Example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Kerr) who fucked us all and without the lube and kissing. 14 multi-billionaires, 3118 multi-millionaires and four now foreign owned banks being the second most profitable in the world, second only to Canada later that didn’t grow on fucking trees ya know. Before rogers neoliberalism the only homeless people were mad people.
Now. Today. We have forced mass migration to our primary economy competitor australia as our primary-economy farmers face ruin as foreign interests invited here to eye us up to become our new owners and by owners I mean slave masters .
Dear Chris Hipkins. Please. Say something? Come out fighting for us. Please. I’ve tried here for years to open peoples minds to what’s happened, is happening and will continue to happen unless we resist and react. I’ve even tried witchcraft on luxon but the only thing I managed to do was make his hair fall out and give him a fatal attraction to ill fitting suits.
AO/NZ. Please. Please. Please. Don’t give in. Instead rage!
