  2. You are not wrong, Tadhg. New Zealand colonialism is into its phase of senile dementia. Few colonial regimes are allowed such an end. Normally they are put down by an act of the popular will in an earlier stage of life. Someday historians will ponder over why New Zealand was an exception to the rule, and their answer may surprise many of us.
    However the big shortcoming in your analysis is that it sets out an economic programme without showing the political means to that end.
    Are you assuming that the present system of governance will suffice, and that New Zealand can somehow decolonize while keeping intact all the colonialist institutions of government?
    Decolonization, and with it your economic programme, can only come to pass through the full restoration of the institutions of rangatiratanga. That is where our efforts need to be focused.
