…I, like every citizen of a liberal progressive democracy should, care about those on the bottom of the heap getting their teeth kicked in every day.
Last week new sanctions against those on welfare were launched and they are a bitter harvest of spite and malice masquerading as social policy.
The ‘Money Management’ punishment is called a ‘non-financial’ sanction, but that’s not true! It cuts welfare in half and forces 50% onto a card that people can’t use to pay rent or bills with.
It is designed to make being on welfare impossible, that’s the point.
The second sanction is ‘Community Work Experience’ which again is a set of hoops that if not completed leads to cuts in welfare.
The reason the Government is introducing these new sanctions is because the Regulatory Impact Statement for the legislation warned these new penalties “exacerbates the risk of a client facing hardship”, and that’s the point!
National have designed welfare to be so difficult people are forced off it.
And how many beneficiaries are currently not complying with the existing job ready demands?
1.2% – hardly a hemorrhaging of taxpayer dollars.
Once someone is sanctioned with a ‘Money Management scheme’ or ‘Community Work Experience scheme’ they become ineligible for emergency housing or special needs grants so that they fall over on purpose!
MSD now want 6 monthly reviews but hilariously they cut so many staff they can’t manage a 6 month review.
What was the Government’s solution to cutting all their staff?
Why, they will use AI to find a discrepancy to penalise you with and they will use AI to reject your claim so you are forced to find a real staff member to try and get it back.
They have doubled the length of time they can punish you for when trawling through your life and there is actually no clear path off the ‘Money Management scheme’ or ‘Community Work Experience scheme’ once you get punished with it.
This Government is so hell bent on screwing over the poor to fund their tax cuts for the rich, they’ve even gone after sole parents who rent a room out to a Boarder!
Comrades, if a full days work can’t purchase 3 square meals, 24 hours worth of rent and utilities, a fraction of a months clothing budget, and a reasonable portion to be saved for when you retire, then what the bloody hell are we doing here?
This budget did not answer that and all we saw was National take today what tomorrow never brings.

Well the real voters of NZ could see this before the election .But the stupid voters could only see the fake tax cut and the Maori are stealing the water mantra .Sadly the second stupid lot voted in the worst ever government NZ has ever had .Luxon is happy to see so many people leave every day as it makes unemployment figures look better than they are .Add the 100k working age people who have left onto our unemployment scrap heap and we would be close to 10% unemployment .Imagine the hate they would whip up then .Most of those 100k are our recently trained trades people ,which NZ invested in so we had a supply of skilled people for our construction industry .If we ever start building stuff again we will be fleeced by overseas companies who will bring in cheap unskilled labour and charge us double the cost .The road to Whangarei will end up costing 30 billion .
This is another example of the misguided belief that “right wingers” are good for the economy and supposedly general population. The numbers suggest otherwise. Look at Trump. For the second term, just like he did in the first, he has increased debt and given a tax cut to the rich and is making the US weaker. All those morons fell for it again, just as NZ fell for the complete bullshit that came out of the likes of Luxon and Wiilis. It’s patently clear “the market” doesn’t solve numerous problems, because the market is full of greed and needs regulation or on occasion, like power infrastructure, should be owned by the people.
This government and its supporters conveniently blame Maori it’s the easiest get out of jail card. Seymour & Winstons use the Maori trope constantly in their political statements to keep their flock motivated and then the SM warriors amplify there messaging like the Platform, Duncan Garner, Chris Lynch media, now a far-right Canadian billionaire has been added to the mix!

Dont forget that 40% of business owe TAX and IRD are winding them up as quick as they can get to court so the problem does not grow further .Along with falling interest rates this points to a poorly run and performing economy .Luxon is off over seas again believing all is well at home but inflation is not under control and there is no growth and unlikely to be much ever again .
NZ is in deep shit ,and guess what a lot here voted for this .
