Ngāti Toa Rangatira leader Helmut Modlik challenges David Seymour to debate on Treaty of Waitangi
Iwi Leader Helmut Modlik laid down a Treaty debate challenge to David Seymour:
Helmut Modlik has had enough, he’s calling ACT leader David Seymour’s bluff.
The Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira chief executive says Seymour has constantly challenged New Zealanders to have a national conversation about the Treaty of Waitangi but it’s a charade.
“I’m disappointed by David’s divisive rhetoric,” said Modlik. “Either stop the charade around a national conversation and debate and kill the Treaty Principles Bill now, or let’s publicly debate what the Treaty means in the 21st century.”
Helmut told David, anytime, anywhere, any place and David has agreed and said, “The Working Group“.
That’s right folks, The Working Group is proud to announce that we will be hosting the Iwi vs David Seymour Treaty Debate, 7.30pm October 8th, live-streamed on Rova, Youtube, Facebook, Tictok, Twitter, The Daily Blog AND simulcast live on Sky TV Channel 83!
The Working Group is New Zealand’s number 1 weekly political podcast that is NOT funded by NZ on Air!
The Working Group is the only place in New Zealand media where a Marxist and Libertarian argue each week over politics with a range of guests far outside the hollow little echo chambers of the mainstream political panels.
The Working Group practise free speech while the Free Speech Union grandstand on it!
The Working Group has the debate while the woke middle class activists seek only to cancel!
The Working Group brought you more live-streamed election debates than any other news organisation!
The Working Group outrages the feral Qanon Racist Right AND the humourless woke cancel mobs.
We believe passionately at The Working Group in debate, not less of it!
We demand more debate, we don’t shy away from it.
We believe a well functioning democracy requires more debate outside the Gatekeepers narrative and celebrate adults being able to engage with big ideas.
The debate must be passionate because the issues are passionate, but after the furious words and argument, we must as citizens shake hands and continue the debate because that’s the way we change minds and win support in a liberal progressive democracy.
The Working Group will host the Iwi vs Seymour Treaty Debate, not TVNZ, not RNZ, not Stuff, certainly not the Platform, but The Working Group.

Not one red cent from NZ on Air!
Martyn – Well Done.
2nd that!
Great result although my experience has been that you can’t argue people into the truth. Those with fixed opinions only hear what they want to hear although the opportunity to share views in a peaceful manner is a good idea.
Nice. And if we are honest this blog is not exactly David Seymours number one fan site so it’s good that he said to debate it on the TWG.
Awesome this is what we want a debate, Seymour is well versed in debates so he’ll bring all his ideology to the table however he also cunning with his narrative & never heard of the other guy so this is gonna be a doozy
Can we at least acknowledge David is prepared to go deep into enemy territory and debate this subject. He certainly has more balls than Luxon, but that’s not hard.
I might make a game of it, and drink every time Seymour gets called racist. I suspect I won’t last long
Thank you Bomber – this is exactly what NZ needs more of and it’s going to be a fascinating debate.
Will be interesting to see Seymore support his arguments, IMHO he is FOS.

Superb getting this organized.
How about a debate on the cruel economic conditions and austerity being carried out by the current militia in Wellington ?
Lots to focus on eh.
