Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

  1. The significance of Israel’s banning of Al Jazeera

And what it means for the current ceasefire deal and hostage release.

Israeli Gov’t Prevents Al Jazeera Shut Down Fearing Harm to Qatari Hostage Mediation
Israel’s cabinet approved emergency regulations allowing the government to close media channels that security officials believe harm state security, but both the communications minister and attorney general have said that the decision rests with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant

Israel’s government is refraining from shutting down Al Jazeera’s operations in the country to avoid undermining Qatar’s mediation efforts for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, political sources say.

The significance of the banning of the Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera, is that it signals that the Israeli government do not want the hostages returned.
As well as being hostages they are witnesses, when Gazans were bombed, the hostages were bombed, when Gazans were starved the hostages were starved.

While people in Gaza are celebrating Hamas agreement to the hostage release and temporary ceasefire deal it is clear that Israel will refuse it.

The hostages are witnesses to all the atrocities committed by Israel in Gaza.

  2. Hamas agrees to temporary ceasefire and hostage deal. Israel calls Hamas ceasefire agreement a Hamas ruse and deception and to the horror of the world launches major assault on Rafah.

One official told Reuters that the announcement was a clear ruse by the terror group to create backlash against Israel for refusing a deal, and officials told KANN TV that the announcement of a cease-fire agreement was a “Hamas deception.”

Genocide Joe refuses to stop supporting Israel even if it costs him the presidency and hands the US over to a far right Trump administration.

Will the UN Security Council meet again to discuss ordering a ‘Binding’ ceasefire order?
Will the US support a unanimous binding resolution on Israel for a ceasefire?
Will the US abstain and call it non-binding?

  3. If MP’s like Jamie Arbuckle, have so much free time, that they are able to hold down another fulltime position as a Malborough District Councilor, then MP’s are obviously being overpaid. They should immediately stop the higher salaries commission pay increase to MP’s, and instead reduce their own pay by 6.5%, which is the amount they are asking the rest of the govt sector to cut back by. TBH MP’s were once upon a time, paid approximately the same as teachers. But their salaries are now much higher, because they’ve always given themselves bigger increases. Cut their pay by 6.5%, and cut their numbers by 6.5%, would show austerity leadership. You would never see a full time teacher, being able to take another fulltime position elsewhere, because it would be impossible, since being a fulltime teacher takes all your attention.

  4. NZ advancement in scientific enquiry and understanding. One wonders if this piece is relevant to what is happening today in NZ labs. Or is everything cut down to a budget and determined size whether effective or not? Beancounters are so old hat; having their heads down over their beans causes them to lose sight of the wider vision.
