This recording is the third webinar in Soil & Health NZ’s GE education and advocacy series. Jon Carapiet presents his case for tight GE regulations from a consumer angle. He covers the right to choose, labelling, traceability, and lessons learned from overseas.

Jon is a consumer advocate, market researcher and national spokesperson for GE Free NZ (in food and environment). For almost 20 years, Jon has spoken out about the need to moderate the powerful use of gene technology to protect New Zealand’s capacity to produce and sell non-GMO food and protect consumers’ rights at home and overseas. As an advocate for Brand New Zealand, Jon draws on his years of experience as a senior market researcher and brand communications consultant. Jon has a Bachelor’s degree from Cambridge University and a Master’s from Auckland University.

  1. We sure do need navigation in this GE area. Go between the rock of Scylla and Charybdis.
From my level what comes to mind is naively navigating in a very leary way:
The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
    In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
