Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist language, homophobic language, racist language, anti-muslim hate, transphobic language, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

    • Thanks Denny. I had lost track of that one. Don’t think he’s been sentenced yet, but 110 years probably about right for yay-USA

      • Well his mentor Bernie got a 150-year sentence. Very similar case but I think much worse than Bernie as well as in a shorter timeframe.

What I’m impressed by is he got a $65b overdraft facility by using QuickBooks accounting software and Excel spreadsheets!!

“Bernie was convicted of fraud, money laundering, and other related crimes, for which he was sentenced to 150 years in federal prison. Bernie Madoff died in prison on April 14, 2021, at the age of 82.”

  1. Now reason for dropping speed limit is not just safety in crashes it is emissions.   Try doing something about overstocking cows.   And make buying cars a more onerous thing.   They must come with a huge carbon footprint, eg the ugly, wide, tall, garden sheds on wheels such as small buses for home use.and the all-terrain, all-man SUV and hummer;  they are proliferating all over ground that could be, should be growing vegetables!

…Waka Kotahi, as part of the outgoing government’s Road to Zero safety campaign, estimates it has lowered limits from 100km/h to 80km/h on about 4 percent of New Zealand highways.
This move has been one backed up by research. Experts say an individual’s chances of surviving a head-on car crash decreases rapidly when the vehicles are travelling 80km/h or lower.

State research figures of above.  Experts say…

  2. Great story. NZers keeping skills and making long-lasting gear which they can sell.

2 Nov 2023 In the shoes of a bootmaker
Once upon a time, Aotearoa was home to 100 bootmakers, now there are fewer than 10.
One is the small Northland business Lastrite Footwear which has been in Neville Brunker’s family for over 70 years.
Today, Brunker is a one-man band, crafting boots in the garage of his beachside home near Whangārei…
Brunker reckons he’ll probably work another couple of years before calling it a day, and hopes Lastrite might last.
“Yeah, it’s gonna be sad but at the end of the day, there’s time you’ve got to let go. Hopefully, we’ll be able to sell it to someone who’s got some experience to be able to purchase it. It’s not a simple task to start. I’d like to see it carry on but if it doesn’t well, that’s the way of life.”

Think about it you midlife-younger ones. Hang on to what’s good and home-made and there will be enough people to keep a small outfit going.

In the meantime keep in mind for womens really comfortable long-wearing flat shoes the mesh Barrado Merrell – about $200+? They would wear longer than cheapies and reduce your carbon footprint!

  3. If you see Chomsky and Finkelstein on utube you’ll be fully informed about Israel and Gaza. ‘Judao-nazis ‘ in Chomsky’s latest comment. I take it he’s sick since he hasn’t talked since Oct 7.

  4. See Chris Trotter’s response to his great commenter, Guerilla Surgeon, on Trotter’s blog. GS is 73, CT is 68 — if I had a Sophie’s choice, I’d choose GS.

At this point, criticizing the former best Left-talker is like shooting at the wall. I really wish , for once , I’d be ahead of the bunch.

He’s gone Right like you’re threatening to do — yeah, the greater cause is a better way to go forward but you attack minorities in effect. It can’t go ever in these around-sound media days.
