That smoke will eat up credits we have worked diligently to achieve for reducing our carbon emissions. I think we must keep on with that but let’s not under-estimate our ability to shoot ourselves in the foot. We try to make every post a winning post to the point where people are seriously disadvantaged so the nation can meet arbitrary goals that are not achievable and only slightly measurable against world standards.
It would be more effective iIf we concentrate on cutting down on plastic and our love of luxury and bad practices eg importing cheap clothes that are deteriorating as we watch – peeling vinyl from bags, shoes, and clothes that get thrown out after one wearing. They go into op shops which want to sell them at higher prices than the low income can afford!
Overall only the importer profits. And it’s noticeable that Ezibuy that used to have a good business selling imports is now on its way out. So who profits in the long run? It’s not the immigrants that are taking our jobs so much as the imported goods that we should be occupying ourselves, in jobs, making. One instance, soap – Dunedin used to be a soap provider. Now? Plenty of change needed in NZ; just attitude and actions change would be a major step towards making the most important climate change contribution.

A study into workloads, conducted by Umbrella, has revealed that 14% of working New Zealanders feel pressured to work long hours at work, 43% feel that they have to neglect some of their work tasks because they have too much to do, and 44% work very intensively to meet work deadlines.
Dr Dougal Sutherland, Umbrella CEO said that because of the intrinsic relationship that exists between workload and well-being, this data paints a concerning picture of our working environments.
“The challenges faced by workers in today’s fast-paced and demanding work environments often means there’s pressure to take on more work, work long hours, and neglect some work tasks. This not only affects job performance and organisational productivity but also the physical and mental health of workers….
Sounds promising. However I have become a cynic. in that the present system charges on regardless and the damage in the wake is useful fodder for some business or entity to apply nostrums to for a fee. So I hope this is legit.
