GUEST BLOG: Pat O’Dea – First they came for our Prime Minister

Jacinda Ardern has been hounded out of office in an unprecedented well funded vitriolic hate campaign.

Every one on the Left needs to reflect on this.

All around the world democracy is under attack by the far right.

Make no mistake the far right have achieved a momentous victory against democracy in this country.

First they came for the Labour Party Prime Minister
And I did not speak out
Because I wasn’t a Labour Party member

Divided we fall

We need to take a stand against these Far Right bullies.

The authorities and leading public figures and politicians need to speak out and forcefully condemn this disgraceful behaviour by the Far Right.

The New Zealand Parliament need to call an urgent vote expressing unanimous condemnation of the behaviour of the Far Right conspiracists, that has hounded Jacinda Ardern out of parliament;

The motion:

‘We the the elected members of the New Zealand House of Representatives, in terms that cannot be mistaken. unanimously condemn the hateful vilification of this country’s Prime Minister by Far Right extremists both domestic and foreign.’

Victory for the far right.

The New Zealand prime minister was a prominent hate figure for international far-right and conspiracy theorist networks….

Far-right networks around the world reacted jubilantly to Jacinda Ardern’s shock resignation as New Zealand’s prime minister Thursday, in the continuation of a global hate campaign that experts say likely played a role in her departure.
Ardern, who gained an unprecedented global profile for a New Zealand politician since becoming the country’s youngest-ever prime minister at the age of 37 in 2017, held back tears as she announced she was standing down next month as she no longer felt able to meet the demands of the job.

It is because none of these far right conspiracists will ever appear in our justice system, we need to condemn them in the highest court in the land, which is the New Zealand House of Elected Representatives

I call on the united House to publicly condemn in the harshest possible terms the far Right conspiracists and haters who hounded Jacinda Ardern from parliament.

Our democracy is under attack. Encouraged by their success in getting rid of the Prime Minister, the fascists next target is the Maori Party.

We need to call on all our political leaders to condemn this type of vile behaviour by a vote in parliament.

Let’s see which ones refuse…..

If the ACT MPs refuse, it could be an electoral blow to these arseholes.

  1. Let’s consider what “momentous victories against democracy” have occured lately.

    1. Mass censorship of Internet communications, led by government agencies (Twitter files)
    2. Election interference, by means of government-led censorship of the press (N.Y. Post, Hunter Biden story)
    3. Election interference, by means of intelligence agency disinformation operations (Jeremy Corbyn)
    4. Coup attempt, by means of illegal intelligence agency activity and disinformation (Donald Trump)
    5. Journalist jailed for reporting illegal government activities (Julian Assange)
    6. Mass surveillance of all communications between private citizens (Edward Snowden).

Certainly “our democracy is under attack”, but the attackers are not who Pat thinks they are.

There are real “fascists” and “far-right conspiracists”, but they are not conspiring at home.

The Azov Batallion in Ukraine, the “moderate rebels” of the Levantine Victory Front in Syria, the ultraconservative “other moderate rebels” in Libya, the Gladio and Gladio B “moderate fascists” — they are all busy fighting “our wars”, paid for with our money. Wars for U.S. Imperialism.

  2. Hmmm, I dunno. Has Ardern stated she quit because of harassment? I know the media are all over that reason but I am yet to hear the details. It’s fishy how all platforms reported this harassment AFTER she quit, yet nothing much prior. Were you all sitting on info? It’s fishy is all.

Democracy is fragile. It takes each one of us and we’ve all been through a rough few years. Still going through rough. I’m not going to condemn anyone. But I do call out destructive behaviour.

The ACT party is definitely destructive, lead by a destructive Seymour. Toxic a.f. It’s last chance saloon for that party, before they begin eating their own tail. I’m kinda looking forward to their implosion. They’ve been super quiet this week…

    • @Sinic
Arden denied misogyny was a factor in her decision:
”It did not, and my strong message to women in leadership and girls who may be considering leadership in future, this is a place where the foundation was laid long before me to make it possible for us to be in these roles.”

However it seems that not respecting what a female authority figure says, publicly contradicting her, infantilising her and denying her dignity in favour of victimhood status is now the left wing and woke thing to do???

Plus crediting the ‘far right’ and online trolls with a victory they likely had little or nothing to do with is going to embolden then to double down on being complete asshats.

Slow clap for this genius media narrative. If far right misogynists abound, they are cunningly masquerading as leftwing opinion journalists.

    • @ D.M. Both those dark elements are there and are still marching in lockstep. There is no Left, left. Let’s be clear on that. roger douglas saw to that after his two x terms in Labour as finance minister, and now, thanks to roger, Neoliberalism is systemic and more toxic than ever and is so entrenched in our politics, our economy and in our broader society that we can’t see it for its brutal presence and it should be written that both those elements; neoliberalism AND capitalist right wingism puts our heads on chopping blocks for privateers to come o our AO/NZ and simply take over. Study the relationships between jonky and peter thiel and you’ll see what I mean.
The politic we have in power at this very moment is far to the Right politically and also totally neoliberal which puts neoliberalism within the orbit of fascism, totalitarianism and autocracy.
I was hugely disappointed that Adern didn’t come out swinging at the neoliberal deep state bureaucracy that was installed, like a virus, during the privatisation process of the the late 80′ and early 1990’s National / Labour baton passing in the race to snaffle a bargain, like graham hart did with the Government Printing Office for example. Now he brags that he’s able to “smell the money”. He’s also one of the 200th richest people in the world. A panel beater from little old NZ aye.
Neoliberalism, and of course it’s disciples, hangers-on and privateers, was slipped passed Lange by Douglas in what must be considered a grand act of political treason and betrayal of epic proportions.
So why did Adern not come clean and launch a game changing commission of inquiry into the players who sold us out? Well, isn’t that the $64 thousand dollar question. More like the now nine multi billionaire question and four foreign owned banksters stealing billions of dollars out of our economy question Aye Boys?
My guess would be that AO/NZ’s neoliberalism has created about itself an impenetrable barrier of power and finances which has us webbed in behind even larger schemes and plots. peter thiel and others aren’t here for the rugby, lets not forget that.
So. We, as citizens of AO/NZ who have a democracy and are living on Earths last paradise have no power politically and our money’s siphoned off via corrupt agri-producer boards to God only knows where, although perhaps Panama and the Cook Islands could help with that one, and our people, as is evident here, have no real idea what the fuck’s going on which means that all we can do is run around in small circles snapping at each other like small toy dogs.
I do know where the troubles started, however. It started with National. Not Labour. National and its members did this and they’ve been doing ‘this’ to us for generations and generations. The National Party have been swindling farmers then redirecting their money for almost one hundred years. National’s predecessors have been burgling AO/NZ since refrigerated shipping gave access to the vast riches available in EU, the UK and the USA for 140 years now and trust me, no one within Labour or National want that particularly nasty old tom cat to get out of the bag.
In short: There’s really no such thing as Labour. The Labour Party is a myth. A thing of legend. The true hub of power is in the National Party and rogers neoliberalism and they’re both the same thing and our satellite parties are less use than jerry brownlee’s corset. Our economy is managed by those who can, and do, take the most from it and we’re merely their servants and if we make it to the quaint term that is ‘retirement’ then you’d best die quick and get it over with. After the world war that’s coming AO/NZ will be a island outpost for the American military-industrial complex so ‘FUCK YEAH MUTHA FUCKA ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Whooop ! Yelp ! Fist Bump !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. It all started with dumbing down the education. Glorifying greed was next. Ended up with “feelings” replacing facts. Opinions of celebrities respected and science rificuled. No wonder that ignorant and opinionated shout the loudest.
Media deify anyone screaming from the peak of Dunning-Kruger.
    Interesting times ahead.

  4. Because of the numerous threats of violence made against the Prime Minister, it has been reported that Jacinda Ardern and her family will have to be under police protection for the “forseeable future”.

….“The vitriol is, quite frankly, off the charts,” said Paul Buchanan, a former intelligence and defence policy analyst who was a consultant to US security agencies. “The threats to her will not go away simply because she steps down. Some of these people are capable of taking violent action against her.”

Buchanan believes New Zealand’s Diplomatic Protection Service, a specialised arm of the police responsible for security, will assess the risk to Ardern and her family and provide 24-hour security for the foreseeable future….

Yet the whole episode has been completely down played by our authorities and even by the Prime Minister herself.

Not so in Germany. Where because of their history they take this sort of stuff very seriously

The same currents that brought down our Prime Minister were apparent in Germany. Threats of violence were made against the German government and their Prime Minister by the Far Right and conspiracy theorists.

    https://www.thenationalnews.com/world/europe/2023/01/26/the-prince-the-terror-granny-and-the-rise-of-germanys-well-to-do-far-right/

…“With Covid, this exploded. The right-wing extremists immediately realised that any type of severe societal crisis is something they can take advantage of.”

  5. Dear oh dear, the tribal left is taking this very hard.

Hounded out of office? So Ardern’s resignation had nothing to do with having painting herself into a corner with her clueless policies and posturing?

Why do you think Hipkins is trying to distance himself and his government from some of Ardern’s flagship policies?

    • “Why do you think Hipkins is trying to distance himself and his government from some of Ardern’s flagship policies?”

      ‘All politics is pressure’

Chris Hipkins is trying to distance himself and the Labour Party from Prime Minister Ardern’s policies, because of the extremist Far Right hate campaign waged against them.

      ‘All politics is pressure’.
