Old said Covid-19 cases were increasing, though there had been a stabilisation in the number of cases over the past two weeks.
However, he said there had been a recent increase in the numbers of people hospitalised, with 339 people in hospital as of midnight on 13 November.
“The outlook for summer remains uncertain.”
He said there was a mix of sub-variants now circulating in the community.

Martyn I wondered if on this blog we could have a formal set place for advertisements where people who are developing ways and things to help us cope with climate change and drops from modernity in living standards can briefly put their ideas and achievements and products forward?
This blog could be the go-to place for getting clued up on thinking about and what to do for the future. I read about very keen people doing things from time to time but don’t know the extent and how practical some of these people and ideas are. As advertisers they could provide some money. There would be a permanent heading under the drop-down for open mike and they would be sorted into five tags say for a permanent library. There would be some requirements from you to be truthful, and explanatory, and people/environment oriented. You could be today’s trusted Aunt Daisy that people pay attention to and trust. Don’t think of it as a step-down please, but you may already be getting to that position in a form for today’s fraught situation and it’s no bad thing.
